Multi ECU's
So I have a RENNtech custom tune and I'm some what happy with it, it made 480 rwhp and I just put down a 11.9 but I just have a feeling I can get more out of it with a LET tune with all these recent success stories about ppl posting big HP numbers and low track times. So my question is can I get a second ECU put it in and have LET tune it and be able to switch since I dont really want to erase my RENNtech tune since I just coughed up money for it. If so how much are ECU's going for? Thanks

IMO wouldn't it be cheaper to just speak with Dyno Comp and see what else they could do for ya? That would probably be your cheapest option. If you don't mind me asking what was the weather or DA like during your pass? Speedworld is somewhere in the 1500' range to begin with...right?

I think Dyno-comp did the best they could with the RT tune I just wanted to see what else was out there and try it out but since a ECU is 2k I guess Im gonna just stay with the RT tune. I think the Rat is only able to load a higher octane RT tune.... but I could be wrong. Im not sure how to calculate Da but it was 68 out when I got my best pass of the night which was a 11.99 with a 1.88 60ft time. I will for sure need some DR's soon and some more cooling mods.

Have you thought about going with a higher octane tune? With the weather you have in Arizona I would think staying on the conservative side with a 91 tune would be best. IMO getting to aggressive with a 91 tune would be risky and not worth the extra time you might save in your ET's. Arizona and California suffer from our damn emission laws that force us to be more on the conservative side of timing and AFR's.

RAT should work on your car.....it doesn't have to be a race gas/100 octane map.
it just has the ability to hold multiple maps of your choice.
and since you are local and have access to the dyno at dynocomp, i'd stay with their tune. rich really knows his stuff (i'm there weekly) and it is difficult to get the most out of your tune when your car isn't on the dyno.

Stay with dynocomp / renntech.
Consider race grade gas, even if you go with lower octane (than 100). We get crap additives, too.
dyno means crap, bro. No disrespect, but post more of your slip. I'd only guess the car is faster than an 11.99.

Ya but I was just looking for more streetable power. But I guess I'll just stick with what I have now since Im not suffering. As far as the higher octane I think I would do some DR's before I do a RAT with a 100 octane tune. Did I read some where that when you shave a tenth of a second off your 60ft time it equates to 2/10ths on ET?
I think getting DR's would be a great choice if you can't obtain good traction. My best times at Sacramento before DR's was 1.81-1.83 and after I'm cutting mid 1.6's on a consistent basis.

Ya I guess your right given how hot it was. But I guess in my mind i was going to easily be between 11.7 and 11.9 all night but it took a long cool down and a large brake stand just to get it to break into the 11's . I guess when I read about cars like your I get my hopes up lol

Ya I guess some DR's next then a 82mm TB once I start a Mod fund again. I hope there is a good Da for the 19th and that I can buy my self a early X-mas gift ( DR's)

If I end up going on the 19th and you still don't have your DR's you would more than welcome to borrow mine. I'll know sometime during that week if I could make it or not.

I would really not recommend giving your tuned ECU from one company to another company in order to tune it, as this seems to always end up ugly and with an IP argument spiraling out of control. Either buy another ECU or stick with one company. This also eliminates the headache that may be caused if the ECU gets damaged along the way. If that happens, you'll end up with company A saying company B is responsible while company B is claiming that company A is responsible.

I believe Jakpro mentioned something about multiple ECU's a while ago, saying that they won't sell you a second ECU. At least I believe it was Jakpro, probably somewhere around 8 months ago. Perhaps he'll chime in a little bit about this.

There is no tuning magic wand. If you want more power you need more mods. Its that simple. Doing a race fuel tune is not worth the hassle unless you are done with mods.. meaning you have all of them.
Do you have a throttle body? If no do that next
Do you have an airbox? if no do that too.
If you want to be up there with Bassn_07 and ChiroMikey's power numbers you are going to need more mods. Not a new tune.
Your car is fast 11.9 is not bad for Arizona right now. Basically If I'm not at the track Firday or Saturday nights it because the DA wont drop below 2600ft. You're not going to put your best time in this weather..
I would head out Friday its going to be cold High of 69! The night session should offer up some good runs.
