Let's hope Hubi finds this thread. Maybe someone else knows my immediate question.

When I enter via the COMAND backdoor with mute+1+3, I get the following (enclosed) menu. Of course there are several sub-menus. Where is a description of all the menus?

The enclosed picture is from a 2004 W220 S600, Euro Comand (NAVI DVD in boot/trunk)

When I select voice control (Linguatronic, SDS Speech Dialog System) in the menu I get a message that it is not activated (second picture). How can I activate it? SDS has been factory supplied, but somehow got de-activated)

SDS factory supplied? deactivated? You're talking in riddles but not in MB language.

Sorry for being so short, but it is a bit off topic for the thread. My 2004 S600 has SDS (voice control) factory fitted. The lever on the steering wheel is there and I have a Linguatornic manual. However, it does not work.

When investigating the status in Comand I see that SDS is not activated (see the pictures posted). Therefore I wonder how to activate SDS. Can I do it myself or do I need Star. If it is Star, how do I do that? Which function in Star does that? My car has MOST.

Why do you call Voice Control SDS? You don't make any sense.

SDS = Star Diagnosis System
Voice Control = Linguatronic

I put Linguatronic in myself and I didn't have to activate it. Linguatronic is part of the phone system. To be preceis it is the phone control module with Linguatronic added in one device.

All I did was changing the order of MOST devices to match the physical layout of the MOST devices. But it worked without that step.

If you have a SDS good luck.

I think the SDS he is referring to is the Speech Dialogue System like in the photo he included.
Jerry, SDS typically refers to Star Diagnosis System as Mackhack stated which is what the whole thread is about. Your referencing SDS throws most of us on here off since we're not thinking the same SDS so to speak

As nanayaw6 pointed out, this is not really my choice of acronyms. I knew Linguatronic as SBS (Sprach Bedienungs System) until I checked in Comand. There it is abbreviated "SDS" (see second screen in one of my previous post). We have to blame the Comand developers for using an acronym that is already used elsewhere in the MB world.

My telephone works fine; it is a bluetooth Motorola phone.

Linguatronic does not work (no voice or beep when I move the Linguatronic lever at the steering column). That stands to reason, given the screen shots i supplied.

An MB mechanic thought it could be "poor power supply" to Linguatronic (MOST?). As it is the least important unit in MOST it will be closed down first if power is insufficient. He then wanted to check it out for 1 hour via Star "to see furhter". I was not confident he knew what he was doing and so I did not want to open up that specific Pandora's box by telling him to go ahead.

I'm not a mechanic but I highly doubt that something can be called as "least important". Each part, module, control unit or whatever gets the power it needs to operate. There is no such thing as let's give COMAND 90% of the power and the rest which is 10% gets distributed evenly or unevenly throughout the rest of the MOST ring.

My suggestion: Change the dealership or mechanic.

As a tech that uses STAR nearly every day, and a 30 year electronics technician and developer .... that is THE MOST ridiculous thing I have ever heard a tech/mechanic say.

My advice.. RUN, don't walk away from that servicer. Don't even trust them with cleaning the car.

Shouldn't this Linguatronic stuff get moved out of this thread into a new one? This has nothing to do with the initial topic.

I agree that the specific Linguatronic parts should not be in this thread and should be (re)moved.

My initial idea was to find a solution for my Linguatronic problem (I do not trust that mechanic either) by buying a Star tool myself. When that turned out too complicated (see earlier posts) I asked how I could solve the problem using someone else's Star system.

I just do not like the idea of "let's connect to Star and then we'll see further" and every expensive MB Star-hour finds more potential other problems, until all MOST components have been swapped out (Pandora's box).

Any help on which part of Star can be used to diagnose the problem is appreciated. That would be back to the original thread.

Hey MackHack

I have been trying to PM you. How can I get my cars settings adjusted via star through you? I am thinking about buying a complete sds system too.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a DAS system (http://www.chinaobdshop.com/free-shi...roduct-72.html to be specific). My question is, will this be able to update its software, or am I "stuck" with the version they send me?

I had been looking into this already in order to fix my Voice Control problem. I copy/pasteed from the ad what the tool can do - and it does not say MOST, COMAND, LINGUATRONIC and all other items I am interested in.

Testable system:
ENGINE
AUTO-SPEED
AIRCONDITIONAL SYSTEM
SRS
ABS
ASR
MPL
GM
BENZ ORIGINAL ANTI-THEFT
DASX SYSTEM
KEYZESS GO SYSTEM
OBD-II SYSTEM

So, would this help me with my Voice Control problem - once I have learnt how to use it?

Chinese... They have no clue what it is they just care about your $$$. And the educated reader will see that each and every Chinese website which offers that stuff has copy and pasted the text from each other.

Don't expect any help from them or your money back if the cheap muxer or the cable dies The question is not if it will, but rather when...

Oh well it's not my money...

OK... And at the price, I can buy another multiplexer if the one I have goes bad or another cable and still come in cheaper than an OEM system. I won't use it every day, so I don't imagine I would have too many problems with it going bad... For what I want done to my car I can't find anyone in my area that will do it cheaper than what I can get this system for and do it myself and maybe help out some other people in the area as well... Just like anything, I am sure there are many people that have had absolutely no problems with this system and I am sure there are people that have had nothing but problems with them.... Sounds just like a 200k CL65 to me!
