PM sent. I’d love to sit down with you and a case of beer and learn more. I get that the cluster is tied to the different modules. That’s why I swapped the board. But one would think that the drive for the analog needle would be isolated in the gauge cluster and be coded there. Unless that information is sent from the abs controller and the cluster responds to that. But then again I’m not and expert and talking out my *** at this point. Anyways I’ll wait for your PM and we will work something out and as a plus I’ll have my original cluster for backup/parts down the road.
I just purchased a 2005 e55 with 67k miles. It is a Canadian spec car with a KPH analog speedometer. I purchased a MPH cluster and swapped the main board over. The dash is back in and working great except for the needle which is obviously going to be off against the MPH scale. I figured I’d use star to code it but I’m a little over my head. I thought that I could correct the analog needle position by changing the national variant. The car originally was set to canada with SA code 461 set to “not present”
So I changed the national configuration to “USA” and set SA code 461 to “present”
The analog needle seemed to say the same and the digital speedo (which is set to mph already) started displaying double what ever the analog needle was indicating.
I changed the coding back to its original state and no damage done. For you guys who know there anything I can do on my end or is this going to be a developer version of star diagnostics to fix?
FWIW.....
Go to www.*******.com
You will locate help with your current software.
All the "software" gurus on this board go there{the ******* site] for help.
Ok it’s all boxed up and ready to go. It’s scheduled to be picked up tomorrow. The main boards are back in their respective clusters. I tried to send you a PM Mackhack but it says your mail box is full and you can’t get any more PM’s.
hey joeseph thanks for the link btw. I went over there and poked around some interesting reading for sure.
Maybe some day over the winter I’ll play with some of this stuff but for now Mackhack hooked it up at a reasonable price and he is in the west coast so shipping wasn’t to bad. Plus I’m glad to support one of these vendors on the forum. Nice to have these specialized guys around.
I have a Mercedes W211 and I bought original Mercedes Star C3 Diagnosis and I wanna enable Battery Voltage to show in IC when you press R button 3 times, does anybody know step by step instructions? Thank you!

Most if not all the persons on this site that offer "coding" go to www.*******.com.
If they tell you they do not, they are not telling the truth, as you can search on ******* by their used name and read / review posting by the poster user name.
What I find comical is on this site the member/posters calming to be "coding experts" are on the on the ******* site asking for coding help, as most do not have valid real Mercedes Benz account{a valid Mercedes Benz account from the USA cost $4,000.00 per year for access] You can locate persons at ******* that will log on to their valid real Mercedes Benz account and get you information/coding a majority of the time at no cost or very little money usually less than $40.00. One reason most people go to *******.
In my opinion ******* is the place to go for any coding issue, have always located persons at the ******* site willing to help the end user much more of "coding experts" than here.

Nice, let’s call it an “original” Chinese cheap clone knock off instead.
What you would like to do cannot be coded with SD though, it’s already there. It’s called Service menu.
Or you can open up your newly acquired WIS and look it up there. Look for “Reset Service” and depending on what model year you have there are two different ways to enter that menu.

Are you sure? it's from eBay.de I paid 390€ + free shipping
Thank you I didn't know that. Can you please explain how to do it correctly then? Tnx!
The real problem with those mail order SDS kits from China is that 1) the software expires in a year, and 2) they cripple the software.
And PCBs with fake or low quality components. Many have not survived a single engine start and burned up. Those are the ones that end up on my bench for repairs.

Follow up on this, I sent my clusters to Mackhack for coding. The turn around was really quick even though he ran into a snag as the cluster I sent him had some older software on it. Unfortunately for me, even after mackhack added fragile stickers. On the shipment back fedex smashed my cluster and broke the face glass and possibly damaged main board. I had packed it wrapped in 3mm foam sheet wrapping (3 rolls so ~9mm) and then air bags all around but the crush popped the air bags and it still broke the housing.
Mackhack has been great doing everything on his end to get this mess sorted out. I opened a claim with fed ex, he had insured the package and has been helping with the documents needed to get the claim through.
