Hankook Ventus V12 Evo?????
So Ive had a lot of different good sets of tires on my E55 on different wheels. I've had Nitto Invo's , NT05's , PS2's , and Goodyear Eagle's. The thing is they are all pretty expensive and dont last to long because my car is dropped. So has anyone tired out the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's? I will most likely be getting a set of 20" forgestars next month and will need tires and Ive found those tires for what I think is a unbeatable price https://www.onlinetires.com/cart.php
So if anyone has any input , Thank you in advance.

2006 Mercedes E55
I just got them and still braking the tires loose at 60mph when wet out. It could be because its cold here 20 - 40. When it warms up I can tell better. They ride nice and quiet. I had discount tire up here match the onlinetire price and paid no shipping.

E55, Supercharged Z4 (sold)
I had Hankook R-S2's on my Z4 and they were loud, wore fast, but gripped really well. Wear rating was 200. V12's are 280. If they are anything like that I would pass.
I have General Tire UHP Exclaim and like those quite a bit. Not much help in the cold weather but good grip and not that expensive. My dad has them on the back of his Z06 and they can take it all in 1st gear in good conditions. Pretty impressive.

I got those tires and they are good only if it is dry outside, even if it rains for a little, traction control turns on all the time. I wouldn't suggest those tires to others. They are cheap, but after all, you get what you pay for.

Here in CA they are perfect! I have had them for about 3 months now and they are a great value. I did not notice any real slippage issues in the rain earlier this week. As a matter of fact, they shed H2O very well on the freeway. I felt very confident even when it was really coming down.
For the $$$ you can't beat them and you would be hard pressed to find a reason to spend more...these tires are great.
I swithed from Pilot Sports to Hankook on my Boxster S several years ago and have never looked back. All of my cars have Hankooks.

Instead of throwing money down the drain on tires that wear out in a few thousand miles, why not lower the car properly? There are adjustable suspension parts now and with the right drop and a good alignment you could get the suspension pretty damned straight.
Just my $.02

I'm about to get these tires on my 19's..
if you are on the fence.. just read caranddriver.com report on summer tires.
I can't afford PS2 right now.. so I'm looking for quiet ride and good performance. Not extreme or razor sharp.
I would look into the Yokahoma S Drive or Hankook V12

Your second problem is that the car's stock suspension configuration cannot have everything aligned using stock components, you should look into the RENNTech adjustable suspension components that will allow you to get a better alignment done. Yes, it's expensive, but if you HAVE to slam your car and therefore run through $500 tires every 5000 miles, the RENNTech stuff will pay itself off quickly.
Also, when I drive the car long distances on the highway/etc - I actually raise the suspension so that I'm close to stock height. This actually levels the car better and can also buy you a few more miles before wearing the inside of the tire.

I'll look into that , Thank You
I'm lowered via STAR, and my car is likely not as low as yours. The lower you go, the more f'd your suspension geometry is. That's your first problem.

i dont have an E55, but wanted to lower my car (have 19s on General UHP exclaims). I ended up getting James @ ACG to come out and install a Renntech elm v3...very nice.. lets you drop up to 4in.. But i set mine 2.10F and 1.90 R which allows one index finger gap. Whats nice is that it has a usb that can plug into your laptop to change settings.

any tire has good grip, wears fast.
thats how i make it simple.
if u want less wear then get a less grip tire.
such as Nitto 555, treadwear i think 320 or more. but it wont grip ><

Ya , true but even the NT05's wont stick and they only have about 2k or 3k miles on them so I guess I will try a less sticky tire.

No matter what tire you have, they wear fast as hell on these cars with the torque. If you are lowered, it's less (inside tire wear) and if you have bigger rims, you probably have a smaller aspect ratio tire, thus faster wear also. Of course, everything is related to your driving style as well. I average about 15k miles no matter what kind of tires I have. I have had the Nitto NT555s and they are great until they start getting low, then they are horrible to drive on.... really can't push them too far. Once they start to get low, they are already gone. I bought those Hankooks off of tire rack a while ago at the ridiculous price of like $139 for 285/30/20s.... very strange tread pattern, probably not as good as the Nittos in rain (just had a little rain finally in Socal, so got to try them out) and probably spin a bit easier, but not too noticeable. So unless your tracking the thing, since you are replacing them every 10-20k miles anyway (or way way less, 3k miles is ridiculous.....), might as well try and get a deal... at least that's how I feel about it. That being said, they aren't great, but not the worst either. For that price, I'd probably get them again.

i have V12s on mine and i like them...
they are rated pretty good (2nd best compared to PS2)...
but the rating isn't so good in wet condition but it hardly rains in socal so it's not bad at all....

That is a pretty killer price for tires. Looks like most have positive things to say so I might give these a try this summer. Great info, thanks!
