PLEASE HELP! Honest opinion on HRE wheels....
Can you guys familiar with HRE wheels give your opinion on which color I should get for my car? I have a black '07 W211 (nothing blacked out yet, but at the most will try to smoke the tail lights). I cannot decide between:
A) brushed (890R or 893R)
B) gloss black with polished lip (890R)
C) charcoal (M40)
D) all gloss black (890R or 893R)
E) brushed/black two tone (M40)
I've gone through practically every picture on this forum and on HRE website but still no clue! Many thanks.

Honest opinion? Don't waste your money on HREs. I've had two different sets of their 19"s, and ended up with multiple bent rims out of both sets. If you don't mind bent rims, then go for their black centers with polished lips.

I live in Asia, so do not have easy access to wheels other than HRE, Carlsson, Brabus, etc... I've read a lot of positive comments about DPEs (and they look nice too) but I would have no idea how to ship them internationally and then finding someone to install them locally... thanks for the feedback. So maybe HREs are not a good option then from what you say. Guess I'll have to stick with my 18" OEM rims. :0(

I have HRE 845R 20" had it for about 3 years 30,000 miles no problems. They are forged wheels it is very high quality wheels. They are bit pricey but It is well worth the Money. My 2 cents

Agree on two things....
1) Honest opinion? I wouldn't spend the money on HRE either. I don't find the contruction to be that good, nor the finish. Many lesser $$ wheels have equal or better quality.
2) The black wheel thing is played. I got tired of it quickly in the 80's, and way past it now. What's the point in spending all that money if no one gets a good look at them going down the road?
Just me I guess.

My opinion - Even for owning a set of pre-owned HRE 540R's (Look exactly like 6.3AMG's wheels) for what it's worth:
The set has definitely been around the block a few times and they are perfectly straight, perfectly round and still beautiful.
If I could I would spend the money on a brand new set any day of the week.
Black is still hot to me, brushed looks great as well. Anything that's more maintenance free than chrome.
To each his own, but these wheels seem to be a great investment.
My $0.02

These days black is just as overdone as silver, really it’s comes down to the look you’re trying to achieve. Mine are 20 inch Comp93 with silver powder coated centres and polished lips. I haven’t had any problems with the HRE’s but have bent other brands of forged rims and steel rims as well. It comes down to luck or more bad luck, hit a big enough pothole at speed and just about any wheel is vulnerable. The larger the diameter the more the risk is increased. They are repairable. Apply a paint sealer on them before installation and the brake dust will easily fall off. I use Optimum Opti-Seal on all my rims, it makes cleaning very easy.

HRE's FTW!! I've had several sets of HRE's and have never had bad luck with any of them. I plan on getting a set for my E this winter...Probably C93's in 20".
Here are the C21's on my Turbo...
