It's $150 and easy to install on your own. It is not just a myth or excuse, it actually works. Why else would everyone here running 10's and 11's do it as one of their first replacements? And if there's any doubt that the E55 isn't king of the straights, try to find another 4-door sedan on Dragtimes or even on the slightly outdated AbsolutelyDriven list that has as many 11-second cars. Currently no other grocery getting family mobile comes close to our 7 year old platform.

...making excuses.
WATCH THE VIDEO
can you mention one manufacturer that has ever embarked onto making an inferior product with the intention of doing so?
C'mon, Darwin figured it out long ago! Open a book please!

Dude, I'm in the video...I was just kidding...I wouldn't have bought it if I thought it was inferior :-) it was just an off-handed jab...And yes I think it's a far better overall car...

I find that my car is kind of a dog in roll ons at 40 MPH. My car really shines when I can start in first gear at low speeds. So I was suprised at how well the E55 did at the start and equally suprised at how quickly it faded in third gear. A 7 speed tranny is a huge advantage from 40 to 120.

Since we were just out having some fun, not going for the AMG E Class World title, I was impressed how really close both cars are from a roll to about 100. Take away our lead weight Pano roofs and it woulda been even more fun, but then what would we have to show off to the ladies...

I never said anyone was, everyone just ASSUMES everyone buys an E AMG model to go straight to the dragstrip. I bought mine because A. Latest and greatest B. I love NA cars and C. Its a much more competent track car when I want go run laps in a fat overweight pig haha...So this whole king of the straights, fastest quarters bickering is just annoying. Read Post #1 Just me and friend having a little fun today. Both cars are stock. and it degenerates into BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Yeah I'd like to go from 0, kinda hard to do on our "closed course" though...He barely ever brings his E to our meets anyways, it's his DD. Click his vids and take a look at his HPF M3...That thing is just nasty...

wow some of you e63 guys go far and beyond to prove your car is superior.ok you have a better car, does that make you feel so much better?
none of the e55 cars where dissing the e63,we just had some concerns with how the car was driven and asked if his pump was ok.You can clearly hear the guy pressing the shift buttons in the video also, what the heck is that all about?
we have seen the dynos people and we both put down exactly the same wheel hp and the e55 puts down alot more torque.
to the op,you should def check your iats and have your tranny adaptations reset, your car has a shifting problem.I had some things done under warenty that had the same issues,i can look up what they changed.

This 63 inferiority came about in this thread because some people were saying that the 55 lost because of a bad driver, bad IC pump, etc.; basically saying that the 55 should have hands-down beaten the 63.
[Both drivers had shifting problems: nothing wrong with the car just shifting at the wrong time. The E63 shifted too late in the first race and hit the rev limiter. In the second and third race the E55 owner was trying to upshift too early (by the sound of the engine at the time he is pressing the paddles to upshift) and the transmission appropriately held the gear and upshifted near redline. If you have the pedal to the metal the transmission won't upshift until it gets to the redline. Had the transmission "listened" to him it would have upshifted too soon and would have lost be a car length or two. ]
The 63 owners retorted that it shouldn't be unfathomable for a 55 to lose to a 63 because both cars are fairly even in a street race. I believe a race at the drag strip would result in the 55 winning because the 55's torque will benefit greatly from DRs and a well prepared track.
