Need help upgrading the exhaust system

I want to work on my exhaust system, thinking of changing the following but please note that I don't care about emissions compliant but I do care not to have a hot-rod type of sound:

2nd cats delete and put an x-pipe in place like the Tru-X from Magnaflow
Straight pipes instead of the resonator
I would also need some mandrel bent tubing

I'm not sure of the pipe ID size, 2.75 or is it 3 … it would be great if someone could take the time to help me out with part numbers from Summit

Please note that I'm getting short headers too.

Thanks for the help,

Adsonic

I have cats deleted and no resonator. You must get a xpipe 100% sure! IIRC it's the 2.75. Honestly, you cant really **** up the design of this exhaust setup... good luck and post pictures please

I'm located in Kuwait and the parts will get shipped all the way here, so I need to get it right from the first time.

I managed to gather those items, but I need confirmation if I'm good to go or not.

3 x Intermediate Pipe, Steel, Aluminized, 2.75 in Part Number: WLK-42217
2 x Exhaust Tubing, 45 Degree, Elbow, 2.75 in Part Number: WLK-41439
4 x Exhaust Clamp, Band, Butt Joint, Steel, Natural, 2.750 in Part Number: WLK-36149
1 x Crossover Pipe, X-Pipe, Stainless Steel, Natural, 3 in. Diameter, Part Number: MPE-10792 (I can't find an x-pipe with 2.75 in ID size)

I'm only deleting the second cats and not the primary set, as I'll be running short headers. But if the sound will be very loud (let's say the same as a stock Mustang), then I might have to find a high flow cats that would reduce the noise but not the flow and put them before / after the X-pipe. If so, any suggestions?

you have a v8 engine. it will sound much louder than a mustang with a cat delete and headers
the resonater is what quiets the exhaust down and your removing that. it can be done but why import all the parts? do you have muffler shops in kuwait? just have them build you a set of exhaust and buy the mufflers. seems like it would be cheaper than importing all the stainless. x pipes can be built easily and any muffler shop would have a tubing bender to shape the exhaust

The material are all imported from UAE factories that only managed to survive with their crappie products due to the monopolist market. And the ones doing the work are $@#$% that only weld without thinking of anything. The ones who actually know what they're doing are charging insane amount just to do it.

I thought of going to the junk yard to find a used system from a MB and cut what I want from it, but I wanted to check first how much it will cost ship it from the US.

Decided to wait after putting the headers and see how loud it is before removing the cats and resonator.

I think with headers you will have to go delete and xpipe

I don't see the need when going with short headers.

I don't think shortie headers make that much difference in sound. My car has VRP headers and X-pipe and is still very quiet. I would love to louden it up a bit, but also appreciate how stealth it is now.

You put the x-pipe in place of 2nd cats or resonator?

I run Evosport headers, no cats, no res, dual 3" system with X pipe and stock mufflers. When cruising its pretty quiet but when I am on it - car is very loud.

I don't know what configuration you're planning on using, but keep in mind that clamps on butt joints will only work if the outside diameters of the pipes are the same on either side that it's connecting.

Thanks for the heads-up, I only got them to make the middle section (with the 3" x-pipe welded on the 2.75 pipes) removable using the clamps rather than all welds. In theory, clamps after the primary cats and before the x-pipe then another set after the X-pipe and just before the rear mufflers.

I bought a db meter that I'll use before / after putting the shorty headers to finally address this matter clearly. I'll also use the same later-on when putting the X-pipe then the 2nd cat delete.

There will be two test spots, one at the back and the other at the deriver's door (to see if the headers produce enough noise).

actually it's the rear mufflers that govern 90% of the sound coming from our exhaust systems so you can delete all the cats and the resonator and still not sound much louder than stock. i'm running long tubes, no cats, no resonator, with an x-pipe flowing into my oem mufflers and it's perfect. quiet as stock while cruising and aggressive at wot...but still nothing like a mustang!

Same situation with me -- the stock mufflers are going to really help with keeping the car QUIET -- I barely noticed any difference with the resonator delete with X-pipe.
