Slow times at track for a stage 2 car?

Hey,

I have a stage 2 car from Evosport...I realized later I had stock amg filters but I have pulley's, shorty headers and exhaust. With a best 60ft time of only 2.033 I was only able to get a 12.583 at 113mph????
I think the DA was 900 and it was def. not a hot night--maybe 68` that night.
We were thinking the street tires on 20inch wheels did not help much and also that my car did not have K'N's and still has stock cats and resonators but I still was thinking I could dip into the low 12's maybe high 11's.
After reading all the numbers people are hitting with stage one cars and even stock I am surprised my car was not hitting lower numbers.

I will admit up front that I dont have the most experience and rear wheel cars have not been my forte. I figured if I would not slip at the line that I might have been able to use my hp to get those lower times???

Any suggestions?

There are a lot of factors that come in to play, best advice, do it right the first time if you expect great results Gorgeous E too! I need a white car next!

Emoving-I fixed everything now so no_! Well maybe for 50K ha!!

And I will admit after I put the K'N filters the next day and ran it on the highway I could finally hear the supercharger screaming...I never heard it before on WOT.

I know I need some practice but I guess I was asking if even with a 2.03 60 foot time dont you think a stage 2 car should drop in the high 11's? Or do you think I need to rid the cats and put some 18's on before that will ever happen?

Im no drag racer but I know for a fact 20s kill it. Not to mention you have headers then getting bottle necked into stock cats, almost like what is the point of getting headers.

Yeah the 1st I would do is get a set of 16",17" or 18" wheels to drag on and work on your launch,do the ECU reset before you get to the track and mix in some race gas with your pump gas, with your mods and your stock cats you should still be able to dip into the 11's. Just remember that track prep, temp/DA and track elevation are more important than you may know!

The best I ran on 19" wheels & tires coming in at 56.2lbs was 12.07!

I think its your tuning and your IAT's.

113 is not close to what you need to be.

Any other cars to measure against on the same day?

filters can help....

I think you probably have an older tune or your IAT's are not under control.

I ran 11.78 on 19s before with 1.88-1.92 60s. Reagrdless of poor traction your trap speed is pretty low for those mods. I have Evo Stg 2 + 80mm tb and my car runs more then a second faster

Its a wonderful tire, I run the tires as an everyday tire, street and strip. I can only spin them on the street for about 12 feet, then they hook. On the street when they are warm I can't even power break the car.

I'm still learning rwd too. Your trap speed is way too low. Can you post a time slip? I looked at one of my older slips where I launched terribly with a 2.5s 60' and still ran 12.5@121.7mph. This was in much higher DA than your conditions, running on 19" Monoblock VI's with summer street tires and a heavy panoroof. The only significant performance mod I have that you don't is an 82mm tb (no exhaust work). If I were to guess at a number, you should still be trapping around 118-120mph even with a bad launch as long as you stayed on the accelerator.

My air intake tempertures that I have mesured get up to around 115-125 but they do drop.
I did not have K'N filters that night which I think hurt dramatically and also having cats on the car I think defeats the purpose of headers....I have a Brabus exhaust on the car which does have resonators...I plan on getting rid of at least the secondary cats but maybe both and keep them in the closet when I sell the car.

The throttle body is something I have considered but I want to try and experiment with different size wheels to see if that impacts my times as well.

I do agree with the lower trap speeds.. I was thinking at least 118-120 was where I should have been.

I will try and take a photo of my time slips tonight so I can show you the comparisons.

I deleted my resonator and secondary cats last summer. Definitely worth the small amount of money I had to pay. Sounds better as well but not ridiculous.

heh i sold the 305s. the 305s used to dead hook on the street, i was wondering if 285s were like that. i am going to go back to an 18" wheels for springs and probably use 285 Nitto DR as my daily tire

headers on stock exhaust should still yield 30-40 wheel hp.

before you go throwing more parts at it, or changing things like cats, etc., switch rims and make sure youre in sport mode and take traction off and see what you run

if i had those mods and only trapped 113 id kill someone

What did it weigh at the strip?
Looks heavy...lol.

Agreed about not throwing another power mod at it until you can figure the current set up out and shave some time off.

Good luck man, beautiful car!

he was in sport mode and traction off .. its the rims and exhaust restriction on his car plus stock filters that were dirty with sand in airbox .. cleaned out now with k@n filters ... he's going to get exhaust done soon then beast should come alive

Your 20s killed your time/trap speed. You need to get 18" with some slicks, delete your resonator and try again.
