Smoked a Z06 in front of a 100 stunned Rednecks...
Wife had a friend who's father is terminal with cancer and is a big motorhead, so his boys took his souped up GT500 to the track today and strapped him in for a last run....very touching....
After all that was done, my car was sitting there and I thought, "What the hell, I'll run it a couple of times in front of the wife and daughter." Lined up with a 06 Z06. Thought I was done for, but alas, he gets the hole shot, but I scorched the 60'. He never caught me. I was pretty stoked! Should have heard all of the comments from the fellas when I came back around! Damn, that's one fast luxury sedan!! etc.. Classic! Best part: I was my 7 year old daughter's hero for the rest of the day!

Did he light the tires up bad or at least start to pull you back on the top end?
Nice kill by the way!
Thanks

THANKS!
Just a tune Bobby. I'm well aware of the fact that he should have taken me on paper, but his 2.148 60' must have turned the tide for me Yeah, he was coming on at the end, but not fast enough for the finish. He probably missed a couple of shifts I'm sure. It's definitely a driver's car.

I don't care about any of the first part. To me, this is the goods.

Great story!
Nothing is more fun than laying waste to what most rednecks believe to be "fast" cars. Any time I can get next to a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, or Chevelle I go for it. Even sweeter is when you can put lengths on anything that was trailered to the track with big tires. I'm betting the average person at the track would think the E55 is maybe a low 14 second car. When you line up against a C5 Vette and put a couple of buslengths on it with a 12.2, people start to pay attention.

And what the hell trailered cars are you putting lengths on with a 12.2? The ones that came on a trailor because they were broken?

Great run, congrats....
The Z06s are very driver dependent, and it is very possible that he bogged the launch or his shifting wasn't optimal, which is essentially more than enough to make you lose in the 1/4 mile as there is no time to catch-up. Now if it was a 1/2 a mile race, then maybe there was a chance for the Z06 to make-up the lost time, but it's just much harder to do in the 1/4 mile.

I got the shocked locals on tape during one my runs.
Even after the turbys make us look slow, I will still always these cars!

We're parked outside in freshly rained on muddy/puddled dirt lot by E-bar, as were leaving I proceed to rip donuts & 10ft high rooster tails of mud like hillbilly gone wild, completely covering my truck, think nothing of it till later @ work guy w/son told me I was his kids idol/hero Gotta love that I can only imagine being 6-7 again & how I'd of flipped if I saw that up close, or your relatively tame looking E55 stomping flashy Vette @ track...

RE: C6 Z06
Nice kill.
The C6 Z06 can be fast, there is a guy in Maryland who runs 10's stock with DR tires, but it takes a skilled driver to do it. Most drivers are not that good or consistent.
I'm hoping to come across one in my recently acquired SL600.

He comes to every single MIR rental, normally with a different new, stock, car every time. Usually with 100-300 miles on the odometer. Then he proceeds to go out and simply destroy any stock record for that particular car.
He's amazing behind the wheel.

Well I don't know for sure who's faster but the last track day I went to the Corvette's were running mid 11's consistently on street tires. But there supposed to be fast. Congratulations on the win. Bad driver or not, it's not easy to do.

Maybe in NJ only the cars that run 10's or better are trailered, but not in Wisconsin. I've seen 14 second cars brought in on a trailer(probably bracket cars), and I have never seen a stock-looking Camaro or Mustang that ran big numbers and surprised me. Most of the fast cars are pretty obvious. My car runs what it runs, and if I get beat I couldn't care less.
The point is, every Billy Bob and Cooter at my track doesn't give my car a second look(or the Audi's and other E55's). I always go with friends, and they tell me evey time that the spectators are amazed. These cars aren't exactly common around here. Best race I had was against a guy in a tubbed Chevelle that came in on a trailer. I beat him by less than a tenth and he was astounded. Nothing wrong with his car either, but apparantly he thought he would smoke me. That's what makes it fun for me.
Most fun I've had was sitting in the audience when a GT-R pulled up to the lights. Lots of comments about "jap crap" and "rice burners". Guy pulled off the most drama-free 10.70 ever laid down and silenced the crowd.
