Taking the Beast Back to it's homeland

Well it looks like I will be headed to Germany, I will ship the car in June. I will get there in July. I plan to make a trip to the AMG plant for a tour while I'm there. What are the chances I will meet the guy who built the engine?

If the guy still works there, it is a definite possibility.

When you take the tour, you walkk right through where they're putting engines together.

The coolest building there is their customization shop. In Germany, you can order your car with anything that you can dream up in your head. When i was there, they were doiing an interior in a G for Victoria Beckham...2 huge seats in the back. Apparently it was her vehicle for going shopping in.

They also had an armored G that looked like any other normal G...except for the 2 inch glass.

Not even kidding!!!! Don't be surprised if you guys are flipped the keys to an AMG and told to take her out on "The Bahn". They really treat the US guys with respect since we are the cash cow. It's on our E55 forum a couple years back. How wild would that be???

Plus you'll be really close to roll out of the twin turbs. Worth it to take a stab at "Hey how do the twin turbo v8s drive compare to the e55s?"

Where are you going, from your avatar I imagine Ansbach or Graf if you are military. The only thing I really miss about Germany is the driving.....and the beer!!

Ok guys, I'll try to respond to everyone. Iam looking forward to the Autobahn, and it would be really cool to drive some of the other cool cars they have there as well. I am going to Ansbach as I am in the military (Army). Damn BelaMeca, sounds like you are gonna be doing some serious rolling. Those videos are crazy. Thanks guys

Ansbach is nice but small, I spent 6 years in Germany all in Vilseck but I traveled alot. I dont know if you have been there before or not, watch out for the cameras on the autobahn they like to hide them and they have the portable ones too. But there is still plenty of un-limited speed roads still left in Germany so enjoy!

I have not been stationed there before, i heard Ansbach is very small and i'm cool with that. I plan, or should i say my wife plans for us to travel alot. I was not aware of the cameras, but i was told the speed limit is regulated in some areas of the Autobahn. Thanks

More of the autobahn is regulated then people think, there are some great roads that are open. You'll know when the road opens up it's time to let her open up it's a great feeling. Beaware you will see old lady's driving their big BMW's and Mercedes at triple digit speeds it's awsome. You will need to study for your drivers test you have to get a usareur drivers license. Try this link: http://www.letsgo-europe.com/Germany...s_license.html or just google it. Enjoy!!!!

Yeah, the test is no joke either. I took it without studying a failed miserably, haha. You just can't use American logic on the test, it's just different. The one thing you will enjoy over there is you typically don't have douchebags in the left lane. Just flash your lights and they will get over. Yep +1 on the cameras especially in the cities. Many folks thing the Bahn is a single road like route 66. It's actually just the highway system over there. Best of luck man, hit me up on a PM if you want to know about some cool places to go. I was over there 2000-2001.
