Hey everyone.... It's time for me to replace a set of tires, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions about which tire I should choose. Right now, I have Falken FK452's all the way around (245/30/20 in front and 285/25/20 in back) on my E55 and I'd initially thought about getting the same tire to replace them. Anyway, a guy in a tire shop that I went to started telling me about the Nitto INVO and how it's a better tire, for about the same $$$. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Nitto and if it's a decent tire? I haven't had any problems with the Falkens, but if the Nitto is a better tire, I'm going to go with it. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

I was told the same thing when I went to purchase my tires although the Nitto's were about $20 cheaper/tire.

I wouldn't buy either. But if that' s the choice, I'd take the Invo. JMO, but you can do much better in terms of ride, wear, and wet.

Definitely won't be getting any UHP tire until we relocate to GA. but these are def worth consideration if u live in warmer climate states.

I have Falken 452 on my E63 and INVO on my 911 and IMO the Falken is a better tire on wet surface than the INVO. We get alots of rain here in the NW and the INVO is a scary tires during heavy rain. Both tires perform well on dry surface. The INVO wear out quicker.

The Falken tire pull to the right (google it) I didn't believe it at first, thought it was an alignment issue but it is true. I got the alignment set to factory spec and even try swaping the tire but it still pull to the right. I put the factory wheel back on and it stright. If these are your only choice than I would pick the Falken on a sedan for wet and dry performance and the noise level is low.

But next set of tire will be PS2 on both car, I use them in the past and never had any problem except they wear out to fast. My 911 got 6500 miles on the factory PS2. Good luck with your decision.

OP - I've seen a lot of people swear by the INVO's (but I've also heard they're scary in the rain - a big consideration for me).


Peter, check out the Conti DW's for the 63 (I'm staying away from recommending them for your TT because I have not driven a 911 with them) in the test with tire rack it had almost identical dry traction, superior wet traction, and lost literally by fractions to the PS2's (they also have a higher wear rating). Their SUPER QUIET also. I got them because I absolutely loved my DWS's (close to 10,000 miles; 10-12 burnouts and almost no wear - and they STICK).

is it just me or do the Nitto invo's make noise ??? I swear they hum until they warm up

I'v'e got about 3000 miles on a set of Hankook's on the rear and can't tell the diff from the Michelin PS2's I took off. And, I love the PS2's. Took a chance based on the Car and Driver tire test where they finished 2nd to the PS2's at half the price. So far, great.

I like the Sumitomo HTRZII...I may move to the HTRZ III next....great traction...good wet traction....have to change them jsut as often as PS2s.....but ALOT cheaper

ANY japanese tire that was not noisy, and way worse near the end of its tread life.

I like the Nitto 555, I had them on my S55 and I have had them on my E55 since 2005 and I have about 9k miles on them

but sooooo sticky!

I have the Falkens. Good grip in dry and wet. My only complaint is that when you lose traction they squeal a lot and draw unwanted attention. Otherwise they are a good tire. Previous tires were Yokahama Advan Sport and Conti Sports before that. Falkens are just as good.

I currently have the Invos and although not jumping out of my seat impressed, I am fine with them. They've seen some moderate rain and were OK. Maybe I don't push as hard in the rain as others. They are a bit noisy. I only noticed because I had Pirelli Pzero Neros down to the wear bar and when I swapped to the Invos, tire noise did not decrease significantly. In the past, it was night and day going to a new tire.

I don't have anything bad to say about the Invos. OTOH, nothing to rave about either. I've never had the Falkens so I cannot compare. I may try the Hankook next time around unless something better shows up at that time.

Have them on the S600 and I love them. For the money they are HARD to beat. Would have went with my old fav Goodyear GS-D3's, but they were a $100 more PER TIRE

Oh yeah, best 60' time according to my G-tech is a 1.81 so far.

Hankook are great dry and wet with a slight advantage over the Falkens. The Nittos are not as good in the wet.

What about Bridgestone Potenza RE-760's? They look like they are a good contender with tires that I aways see mentioned here.

Just bumping from a "R-S3" search.

Falken FK-452 - hated them. Just seemed to not match the car. Re-balanced a couple times. Nothing notable in the traction dept.

Goodyear F1 Asymetrics - is what I use now. Have gone through 3 sets of rears (I have 61K on my car). Good traction for a street tire. Get about 12-13k miles on the rears.

Hankook R-S3 - going to Thunder Hill this Friday, let you know. Wish they had a 275/35-18 XL rated tire. They only have the 265/35-18.

I have had and have both tires...

Falkens are bricks- about as hard as a unit on cialis--- probably a little better than the Invos in the wet but I had no problem testing out my invos in the wet with M3 and E63. They were quite good in tight low speed turns and higher speed big bends.

The Falkens are inferior in the dry- not as sticky.
