Custom FREEZE trunk tank in!
This is a custom made surge tank , designed to fit inside my fullsize spare.. It will be easily removable and the spare will of course be out during racing..Just in case you ask..
This tank is made by Donny with Dads custom intercooler tanks.. Great guy and compnay to work with.. Prices are great and workmanship is of extreme quality standards!
I had room to go to 7 gallon tank inside my spare but decided to stay with 4.5 gallons..

I weighed the tank and it is 7lbs even.. Not bad! I estimate the total system , filled with water and installed; to be right at 50lbs.. That takes about 5hp to move the extra weight.. My guess in warm weather , this tank can net 30-40hp and in cold 10-15hp..
Just can't resist the mods huh!? A setup like this is on the short list for my S65 too. The amount of cooling and resulting gains is tremendous...I should dig up some logs I have from my Supra showing how cold the air gets running through a big water/ice cooler!

I need to drive/enjoy the car first, but wanted to have a logical approach planned out if I were to have the mod bug bite. I'm most concerned with warranty coverage, (unlike my supra), so I am proceeding with total caution.Adam
I almost tried a single front I/C pump but now convinced that would not work or work long term.. Our I/C pumps are made to push and with a rear tank, not much water moving to a front pump and with a rear only (external) , same issue , although better as it is closer to the source.
I thought my tank would be in now but again, trying to customize a system, has caused delays on finding the right parts..

Here is pic of my 1200 GPH intank bilge pump. It`s job is to just keep a good steady flow to my front pump, so it can push a ton of water into my Supercharger! These pumps are light, inexpensive and easy to change and clean..

Wouldn't it be better to run 1 inch line and coil it in your tank say like 15 to 20 feet of line. this would be no restriction to your pump. this will also transfer the temperature to the fluid for a longer period of time. use a more stable fluid like "water/glycol mixture" for heat transfer and then pack your tank with ice and water to maintain temp and balance. Right now I'm assuming that you pack with ice it melts you repack with ice, your main fluid would be water which isn't the best for stability the heat will transfer from H/E under charger to water to tank, over a period of time heat will end up in the rear and you will have a reverse hot water heater. I don't have a rear set up.so don't take this as a knock or put down I'm throwing ideas out of what I'm trying to make for myself. I used some thing like this in a cool can for cooling off fuel in a 1/4 mile drag car.
My current water loop system is about 1.5 gallons and I run 15-20 degrees over ambient in this 95 degree heat. If I do a boost run from 40mph to 110, I am seeing 155 deg. or so. So top of the run, almost all timing is pulled in the heat..
Adding 5 more gallons will greatly curtail those peak spikes on day to day summer driving.. If I add ice, then 1/4 mile runs will be held in a very nice IAT range..
