I got a flat on the freeway today with my stock tires so I figured I'd just move on two new rears today. I went with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS in 275/35ZR/18, so just slighly wider in the rear.

It's got a 540 treadwear warranty which is very high, a traction rating of A is which is second to the highest (AA is the highest), an A tempature rating which is the best and a speed rating of Z, again the highest.

The ExtremeContact™ DWS features improved grip and braking in both dry and wet conditions with a unique asymmetrical tread design. This tire includes an advanced tread compound for improved traction in all-weather conditions including snow, significantly improved mileage, and an industry leading level of rolling resistance for better fuel economy.

They weren't cheap but since I drive 100 miles a day to and from work in AZ where it can reach up to 118F in the summer, I'm very happy with this choice.

Thanks for all your suggestions a few months back on this tire and those like it.

Oh and I put on the E63 style lip spoiler on yesterday and it looks great. Only cost me $130 shipped and I put it on myself. The E55 is coming together!

Upgraded HE and 180mm pulley with an upgraded tune all in the next 30 days baby!

Where did you get the lip spoiler from?

And don't you know that you can't talk about stuff like this without posting pics. General forum implied rule....pics, then thread.

Sorry! I'll have pics up today. Here's where I got the lip spoiler everything was paint matched for free. Fit great and even came with the adhesive.

OK below are pics of the lip spoiler. I didn't bother taking pics of my new tires as they're still a bit dirty and well, they're tires.

Sorry about the poor quality, took it with my phone in our parking garage.

you do know that a treadwear of 540 is going to hurt your cars cornering and traction that is a very hard tire

Not as much as you think - they do push more in the corners but the traction is nothing short of amazing - Benz-o-Rama cut a 1.70 60' on his SL 600 with them. Obviously skill has A LOT to do with it but even then. . .

Was that with the DWS or the DW? DWS which is an all season tire has a 540 tread rating the the DW which are all summer tires have 340. I have the DWS on the c class and the DW on the beast and they grip pretty well. The DWS do feel slushy a little on the c but it's ok, it's my Tahoe vehicle for snowboarding season! They also have an ugly side wall, the DW look much better, they don't have that fat round ford escape tire look haha!

All, they are the DWS and yes I do know I've given up some grip for tread life, but given that I drive my E55 100 miles DAILY, it's a sacrafice I was willing to make. Their grip is A, not AA (which is the best), but I don't think I'll ever track my car and if I drag it, I'd look at slicks anway. Grip is still excellent.

So a bit of a compromise I suppose but I'm still quite happy with them. I've launched hard on them a few times since yesterday and they definitely hook up faster. The traction control light still comes up but it shuts off around 30 MPH when before I could spin them a bit through 50MPH, especially when I fed the beast some 100 Octane gas.

Anyway just wanted to share as you guys helped me a few months back decide on the best tire. I'll be getting two new fronts as well, same brand/type, but I'll keep those sizes stock. (245/18/40).

Thanks!
