Car registration B.S.

Just in case you did not know -- Vegas is stupid expensive - I have a fully loaded 2006 E55 = $970
last year I paid ~$500 in CA

Well, I am going to register it in CA "San Diego" this year for $315....

yup, that is less than 1/3 of the cost of Vegas.

So, unless you really need to run away from CA Smog tests -- Dont register in NV !!!

Over $1500 a year in Iowa. They base it on full list price and hold that for 7 years.

Don't ask what the 996TT costs.

Hawaii bases reg on vehicle weight. My 911 turbo is $191 and the E55 is $241, respectively. The only thing is we have crappy roads.

Wow - Iowa is the worst so far -- and Hawaii is the best for us expensive cars -- if you have an old old POS it would be more expensive compared to other places

That is why a collector sent his Ferrari Lusso to his house in Hawaii from California. I believe he is also moving his Daytona here as well.

Man, I remember getting upset when Illinois registration went from ~$25 to $78 a few years ago, and just recently to $98.

WTH?? things are crazier than I thought -- I can't imagine how one state can justify $1500 illinois while other states may charge a couple hundred - or less than a hundred in some cases -- its retarded

Really? I thought Dallas got rid of the car tax years ago?

Next door in Collin county (that's Dallas suburbs, for you non-Texans out there) it's ~$55/year. I pay the same for both the E55 and an old 1993 300E. Motorcycles are $45/year.

No no, the car tax was when I lived in VA. Registration has surprised me with it's cheapness every time I do it here in TX You've got way better insurance rates in Collin though I was technically in Collin when I first moved, then my insurance spiked when I moved to Uptown.

Real Cars
Here in IL it is cheap as well, and doesn't vary from car to car. Just a flat rate, but if you have special plates it can get more expensive. Regular is like $78.00, and for special plates it's in the $100-$150 range.
