MIR Track Rental Oct. 22nd 2010
The next track rental is planned for friday Oct. 22nd at MIR. Same price and time as usual ($100/car and 9am to 5pm). The weather has already started to cool off so keep your fingers crossed for no rpecip and lots of fun!

This time I'm bringing fried chicken, the sight of all you skinny *** guys eating turkey sandwiches was fail. I bet you go faster with a solid lunch...lol.

It looks like the tuner solved the transmission problem. I had a stock TCM. He had to remove some torque limiters in the TCM. This morning I ran an 8.33s 60-130mph... with 50lbs+ more gas compared to last time out (an 8.41s 60-130). You got to love this cool morning air!
I am hoping to have my custom 9.5" crank pulley fabricated by the rental (right now I have an 8.6" pulley which is the max. offered by Lingenfelter). It should give me 2+lbs more of boost. I am also thinking about doing drag radials.

I know you were a bit disappointed at the rental. We were both a bit confused about hiccups when she shifted. It didn't even register that it could've the torque limiters. Well, the good news is, you know for sure you're making good power if the TCU wasn't happy.
looking forward to seeing her run next time. It sounds sooooo good!

After getting a bunch of complaints about a slick track at the last event I talked to MIR and they said they did everything they could to keep the track sticky. They prepped 8 times that day! 
They said the only way we can get the track to stay good is to keep the street tire cars to one lane. This is because the street tire cars pull up all the VHT (track prep) and the track then becomes slick. We will try that this time and hopefully the track will hook up better and everyone will be happy. If you have any concern with this please let me know and give me a better option please. Thanks!

For the races they prep the track immediately before the racers run. It is different at a rental where some one with street tries comes and basically does a burnout off the starting line and stays in it and tears up all the track prep as soon as it is put down. MIR has told me that is the only way they can get it to hook for us. Besides the street tire cars still get to run, it's just not the same lane. I used to actually do it this way for a while until the last one and I used to always hook up. I went from consistent 1.5 60's to 1.6 60's

Also I want to mention something else to the street tire guys. Make sure to go around the water box, then reverse into the burnout area (usually marked by a cone), but do not get your rear wheels wet. It's pointless on street tires. Plus, if you drive right through the water box, you're gonna track water into the burnout area and starting line. Don't need to explain why that is bad. Also, turn off your A/C. The condensation drips on the track and it can get a bit slick. Again, most people know this, but it's worth a mention.
If you don't want to do a burnout at all, that's fine, but at least give your tires a good scrubbing to get rid of the pebbles and stuff you pick up on the return lane and in the pits. The VHT is pretty sticky and you'll pick up all sorts of stuff, after your pass.

Who are you kidding - your "fried chicken" would just happen to be skin less, lightly pan seared with documentation that the oils used were saturated and trans fat free...oh yeah, almost forgot, with a diet coke to wash it down...

I set a new personal best this morning. It was 43* on my way to work, I was on a back road, disabled traction control, and broke the rear end loose at 62 MPH! Thank you OE Tuning and Speedriven. I had a bit of a "sphincter pucker" moment though. I tell ya, these V12TTs LOVE the cold air.
I think we're gonna be in the 60's this time around. Not the coldest of air, but way better than the 85* we had a few weeks ago.
Bringing the wife this time too. She already said that she wants to make a pass in her.

Ahmad do you think we will be able to have a rental to round out the year in December, we tried last year but got hit with a ran day both December outings, even on the make-up day....
