For those that have worked with 3M Di-Noc...
I ordered a couple of square feet of CF vinyl to do some tidbits on the exterior of the car [Orange sidemarkers [https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-cf-vinyl.html ] , mirror blinkers or covers [haven't decided yet]] along with *attempting* do do my door pins.
My main question was - for anyone that's worked with this stuff before - whether or not the stuff was malleable enough when heated to do a complete cover over the golf tees, or if I should wrap in a 360* direction, leaving the top exposed.
Also, any tips would be much appreciated. I've been watching youtube videos trying to acquire some semblance of the proper technique, but I figure trolling for some more advice here couldn't hurt.
From searching other Di Noc and CF vinyl wrap threads, it seems that the side marker can be removed and wrapped quite easily, whereas the mirror cover or blinker should be wrapped while on the car.
I figure if I don't like the look of the sidemarkers I can always remove the fabric, but if I like them, I'll probably pick up a second grille and have it shipped to Don Nguyen to have it wrapped. [sexy grille here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...f-overlay.html ]
Lastly- any idea if the "Free Matte Diffuser" [https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...y-inside.html] technique will work on vinyl? I bought glossy CF look vinyl to match my lip spoiler and hood emblem, but I'm always in the mood to change something up...

I worked with it a little.
Heat definitely helps to stretch and mold the material to whatever shape you applying it to.
I think the golf tees would be best approached from wrapping it around the stem and leaving the top exposed.
I would practice on something you don't really care about to get a feel for how the material can be shaped with heat.
It was perfect to use on my rear diffuser.

Di Noc is good for exterior or interior
I use it for construction projects from substituting vinyl siding inside kitchens to even wrapping outside of buildings with it.
It will hold up in the toughest of weather.
Make sure to use Primer on anything outside or that might see moisture or reheating.
You can clear Dinoc, but each successive layer of clear will drown out the carbon look.
You can also matte clear it, it should work, but be careful not too put too much down and ruin you entire project.
Stuff is great and can do just about anything with it.
I did my center console and engine bay with it, along with some projects inside the house and of course bigger construction jobs.
Have fun.

BenzoDoc,
Thanks for posting and bringing this to my attention. Must have missed the other threads. This looks real interesting.
Thanks to everyone else for the info links.
It might be a good alternative instead of CF inserts for the door handles ad act as protection for the paint (I have clear 3M in there now). Certainly the door pillars.

Thanks for all the replies.
Houston gets hot-hot-hot, but the E is blessed to be garaged most of the time. And since I'm likely to just cover plastic pieces, I'm less worried about damaging the clear coat.
Will have to check out harwin if this works out. I picked up 3x 12"x12" squares online for ~$19 shipped. Didn't feel too bad about it either. Maybe I'll pick up a couple of "Channel" and "Frada" purses while I'm down there for the GF.
Any input as to whether doing a mirror cover [over the paint] or simply over the clear blinker in the center of the side mirrors will look better? Got to have people mirin' the aesthetics...
Seems like we've got conflicting views on whether the Matte will work. I don't mind being the guinea pig. I'll try it on my iPhone [should have enough to pseudo-*******ize a template online to make a cover out of the excess] or on the golf tees, and report back. I expected to have the wrap waiting for me when I got home this evening, but perhaps it will arrive tomorrow.
Shardul - any idea whether or not a hair dryer will work in lieu of a heat gun? It would save me a trip to my house [have a jack, tools, and dryer here at my apartment]

Still no wrap yesterday.
I suppose it's just as well, it's below freezing so I wasn't looking forward to pulling parts anyway.

Had enough time just now to do the side markers. As suggested, put light behind bumper so none shows through. I was extremely happy with the results. Was not difficult to work with this stuff on a basically flat sidemarker. However, the other proposed projects are going to be tricky.

But if I were to get all my STAR stuff done [-10 mod, folding mirrors, star drop, lights out], where would you recommend?
Friend of mine that works at motorworks quoted me between $200-280 depending on the time it took.
From what I've read, I thought it just involved hitting F5 a lot...

He's still an undergrad at UH [graduated high school with my younger brother] and I figure it's probably not his price to set. Either way, thanks very much, it'd be nice to meet some of the Houston E55 guys [seems like there is an abnormally large # that post here]
Oh, and don't drink and drive tonight, unless you want to see me...working a shift with my preceptor from 11-7 in Trauma. Should be enjoyable...too cold for MS13 to be chopping hands off tonight.
