I believe ours is 2.81 or there abouts, has anyone upgraded to say a 3.73 or 4.10 ring and pinion gear I know you can step up to a SL55 rear, but that is such a small jump it would not be worth it.
Imagine with our tq monsters what that would feel like and how it would improve 1/4 mile times although the top end would suffer a little. Would we be able to calibrate our speedo's as I am sure the computer would freak out?

I believe the SRT8 Dodges have the same differential. I wonder if the 3.55 and 3.73 gears that they offer would interchange.

Stock is 2.65 , SL is 2.82 and then there is a 3.06, although I cannot recall from which car its from, could be G55/DTM...
Anyhow ... the hardware (being non trivial) is a walk in the park compared to getting the EGS to play ball... Even though my car with a 2.82 runs OK - I still think there is room for EGS improvements ...I am convinced the ECU/EGS pull performance somewhere along the line especially when speed climbs as the system sees larger delta differences between expected wheel speeds and actual wheel speeds...
I have yet to hear of one 3.06 running 100%, while there are a few 2.82's running reasonably ok.
Anyhow, some free advice ... dont go there.

Re: Diff Ratio
+1. As of a few days ago I believe that Black Series diff was still available at Kleemann. I'd venture going much past that ratio would be a challenge with anything other than drag radials for your car anyway.

we tried this on the xfire forum to go from a 3.07 to a 3.27 gear. car hits limp mode every time in 2nd gear. to date no one has figured out how to get the tcu to play nice

No one that I know of has gone above a 2.82 ring and pinion which is the stock sizing for sl55's. Jerry from eurocharged performance has the tcu tune for the gear swap.

I do have 3.55's, and we're still getting the shift tuning dialed in. I'll let everyone know once it's working correctly.

So do the E55's and SL's share the same diff?

I think some came with the 215mm dif and some came with the 210mm diff. If it has a 215mm ring gear in it then it should work.

Can anyone verify if these are the 2.82 215mm gears we need that will work with our diffs:
