DIY seat belt chime removal. No STARS needed

Thank to this forum I was able to cheat the seat belt into thinking it is always plugged in by matching the resistance the seat belt circuit looks for.

110 ohm of resistance is what you will need. I went my local radio shack and purchase 1/4watt 100 ohm and 1/4 10 ohm resistors 99 cents each pack.

1. follow seat removal from this link https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...-2006-e55.html thanks for this

2. I used a 10mm socket to remove seat since i did not have the torx sockets. It worked fine. Be careful when tilting seat back that you do not break this black trim piece on bottom of the rear rails. I broke mine.

3. Tilt chair back and look for yellow connection.

take one 100 ohm resistor and 10 ohm resistor and solder together end to end. you can place heat shrink over your work if needed. These pics are just so i could test. I went back and made it look pretty.

If you are having trouble inserting resistor move wires over with one hand and insert into connection using pliers.

Next Remove the connection on back of yellow connection that goes to seat belt...blue/yellow wire connection. I had to use small pliers to remove it. you can see the connection loose and hanging here.

These pics show only the 100 ohm resistor used. I went back added the 10 ohm resistor in series as stated earlier.

Reassemble and enjoy

So I'm confused - this is so you can ride around without wearing a seatbelt, right?

nice, the only worry I would have is now the car thinks there are two passengers and would trigger the airbag no?

this diy only affects drivers seat. The passenger seat would need the resistor mod too for the seat belt chime to be bypassed.

My passenger seat chimes even when putting my laptop on it so this is definitely of interest to me. THANK YOU!

All this work when all you have to do is hit the up or down arrow to turn it off?

Please elaborate, which up or down button? It's super annoying when my dog's riding shotgun and it keeps beeping, i've been tempted to buckle her up

As for the drivers side, i'll wear my belt!

My front passenger seat seems to have a mind of it's own. If my daughter is in the back seat and just pulls on the font seat, the chime starts going off. Even after she gets out to go to school, the damn thing keeps chiming....with nothing in the seat. It's a shame we have to perform this operation to turn off the seat chime.....how rediculous!!!

I could be wrong but I believe pushing the up or down arrows only works when the the car is off and the doors are open.

Didn't realize what the purpose of this actually was... I wear my seatbelt all the time so I don't really have a use for this and my passenger seat isn't that sensitive (I had two DeWalt drills sitting in the passenger seat today and it still didn't register enough weight)... Doesn't really benefit me...

Not complaining, just commenting. And he is not doing me any favors, as I don't drive anywhere without my seat belt on.

In my case I'd use it for the passenger side. Every time I put ANYTHING on the seat it starts to chime and will continue to chime for hours even after I remove the object. Dealer wants to charge stupid amounts of money to fix this when this simple resistor will work.

Mikey, those are sweet! I wonder if they really would cut the sensor?

I dont wear my belt when Im running around jumping in and out of the car, the speed limits are less than 20mph so I take my chances sometimes...
