KW V2 Coil-overs E55 (Build Thread)
Wassup guys! I know A LOT of you guys have been waiting for someone to jump on this. I know I have. I was going to sit quiet and wait on the sidelines for some people that were suppose to get this done, but I was getting restless so I decided to try it out myself.
I've been in the talks for a VERY LONG time with my shop and KW along with some other companies about doing a coil-over kit for our W211's. Well I finally have them now. KW only offers a V2 for the W211 E350 but I asked them to work something out for the W211 E55's and this is what they sent me.
I'll post all the details on what is needed for the install and some pics. I have my usual guys (H Motors) doing all the work. I dropped off the car today. They will begin the tear down tomorrow and I specifically requested that they take lots of pics and to also weigh all the stuff. I'll report back with what I find and I promise to be there during the install when I can.
Here are some preliminary pics to tease you a bit.
Look what FedEx dropped off...

06 E55, 03FORD P/S,01 E320-4M,99 ML320,O4 E55,05 RUBICON UNLIMITED,
i'VE BEEN DOING THIS TO MY SPARE CAR,YOU'LL NEED E350 REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND A FEW OTHER THINGS UNLESS I CAN'T SEE SOMETHING ABOUT THE INSTALL PARTS IN THE PICTURES(CAN'T TELL IF REAR SPRINGS ARE MOUNTED TO SHOCK OR SUPPOSED TO GO ONTO CHASSIS LIKE MY KIT).WEIGHT DIFF. SO FAR IS ABOUT 35-40 LBS FROM AIR PARTS TO COIL OVERS.I'M USING KSPORT,A LITTLE DIFFERENT BUT LOOKS PRETTY CLOSE TO THE SAME,MAKE SURE THEY CORNER WEIGHT YOUR CAR WHEN THEY'RE DONE.

I'll post as soon as I get more pics and have ANY updates!
This is just a pic of the coil overs. As you have said, control arms are required. Some other small hardware and the control arms have been ordered and will be here first thing tomorrow. I will post up all the parts needed along with the coil overs when I have them available. Car is going straight to get an alignment and and everything set before I pick it up.
Thanks for the heads up! Definitely keep us all posted on your project also!
Thanks homie! He is more than qualified and I have NO doubt he'll be able to get'er done!
I'll have a number for you when everything is in and operational.

Funny you post this bro because I was thinking about talking to my inde shop about doing the E350 steel conversion while stuck in atlanta traffic tonight. If you don't mind me asking, what did the coil overs run?

I'm sure it'll work out. I'm going to make it work one way or another.
I'm certain it will. Ultimately in the end, air is for comfort...Us AMG guys definitely need something a lil more aggressive!

Is the E350 the only option for parts? Does the E500 or 550 have a non-airmatic option?
Will the E350 parts, and I am thinking soft parts like bushings (maybe others), be rigid enough to not flex with the amount of power our cars put down?
I know there are differences between the BMW M3 and regular 3 series, with regard to bushing material and even hard part rigidity.
Just thinking out loud....
Looking forward to the results.
Thanks for taking the plunge!

2006 Mercedes E55
Did they change the spring rates as the E55 is heavier in the front ? Also did they re-valve these ?
I love my airmatic (granted it hasn't failed at 62k)
I had 2 pretty dumped / tuned cars with coilovers and was always scraping and the ride was hard. Granted I did not have electronic damper control.
I I did it I would have to go with the electronic controllable coilovers so I could still set the suspension to soft. When trying to drink champagne rolling down the freeway
