Need help to set up Star C4

I just received a new Star C4 (AliExpress edition) but can't seem to esablish communication between the car and computer.
I dont have a PCMCIA slot on my computer so using a DB9/RS232 adapter.
Did anyone ever used that adapter or the computer needs to have a PCMCIA slot?? which would defet the whole purpose f these newer units coming ot as "works on any computer"?
Looking for any TECHNICAL help..
Thanks

Computer will have to have a serial port for it to work. USB to serial convertor will not work.

Looks like the T is the way to go.
I am about to pick up a T30 for about $160..Do the internal hard drives sold for the T30 still run through the VirtualMachine?.

Not sure on that one. I am just running bone stock T30 with stock hard drive on ole Windows XP and she works great.

Quick heads up that setting up Star Das can be quite the pain software wise. Not sure what software installer you have etc. Lots of cracks and changes need to be made or she won't run for you.

THEE MAN right now is John Coupland out of England. He has an install program that is just incredible. Super easy and painless. Just costs though.

Hello Guys,

I just got the Star C4, but it came with an external USB hard drive. I already bought an IBM T30 hoping it will come with the internal hard drive.
I've never set this up before. Can anyone pls send me step by step instructions on how to set it up to work with the IBM machine. I'm wondering if I should swap the external with the internal from the seller or will the external do just fine? That was the only reason I bought this IBM T30.

I have everything now, I just need instructions on how to install it and set it up.

Thanks guys in advance.

Yes you will have to swap the external one with the internal one and you will be fine. If not you can install the vmplayer and use the external drive and run it as a virtual machine

Buick T-Type, 70 cuda, S65 and a very FAST Truck!
My assumption is you have the external harddrive hooked up and are running through VMWare on your pc. Several people have successfully used serial adapters but they seem to be a bit touchy. I have mine running through an old dell, it is super slow to get das up and running but once it does it works great. The external hard drives work great too, no need to convert to an internal in my opinion.
