TB shaft grind, and now code P0507
Sooo had some time today to grind the shaft on the TB... Went well...
Installed the TB back, fired the car up and was running fine, all of a sudden the rpm began to go up and down, applied some gas and it got stuck at about 3000rpm and wouldn't come back down! CEL was on and had a P0507 code. (Idle Air Control System RPM Higher than expected)
I could swear I saw an P0505 code first...
Followed Tb reset procedure, checked all hoses looking for possible vacuum leaks, started car and still the same problem, and now it there is a LOUD whistle lol loud enough that my dogs went bizirk haha (vacuum leak?) Turned the car off, as its about 1am, had few drinks, will check things over in the AM. lol
Any thoughts, suggestions? I read a few similar, relevant threads, but since than maybe some of you have come up with more accurate solutions...
(As stupid as this may sound, do the air boxes need to be bolted down properly before starting the car? I was being lazy and didn't because I wanted to make sure everything is fine)

I guess its something to do with the TB??
Maybe the shaft is a little bent, preventing free rotation?

Gonna take everything apart again and reset tb again.

The metal tube at the right rear came off on mine when I did valve cover gaskets. Had the same issue as you.
It just sits in the rubber grommet at the back of the S/C. You will have to do it by feel, as you can't really see it.

Problem Solved. My TB Reset procedure wasn't correct...
For anyone that may encounter the same problem heres what to do. (Copied from another thread, edited a bit by me)
1. Put tb on and reset the ecu with a scan tool.Dont start the car yet!
2. Go over to the throttle body and unhook the cable going to it.
3. Turn ignition key to the stage right before the car turns on. (position 2)You should get a error on the dash. (ESP Visit Workshop) wait 20 seconds and then turn the key to the first position not 0. leaving key intact.
4. Plug the cable back in.
5. Now go put the key to the stage right before the car starts and wait 3 min,the car will re adapt the throttle body and you will hear it move on its on. While this is going on, put everything back together!
6. Start car from position 2, and everything should be okay, tap gas peddle, rpm should drop normally, if they get stuck, or if you have a CEL, you did NOT do the reset correctly!
Thanks for the help boys!

On the side note, my butt dyno says car pulls harder, but who knows lol. Throttle response is DEFINITELY smoother/quicker than before...
Wow, I can only imagine what a bigger TB would do!

I'm getting the p0507 code. I was going to try the tb reset, only problem was that the tb cable was glued into place for some reason. Is there another way to reset the tb without having to unplug the tb cable?

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Odd, I have done three of these now and no errors at all unless the others are being super quiet about it which I doubt. Hopefully you find out what the issue is and share. Best of luck.

I would grind my tb also.
Is it necessary to reset the ECU??? Which tool do you use for?
Or would it help to unhook the battery before ?
Thx :-)
