Front License Plate

Ok so now I have to mount my front plate. I have done some searching on the forum and am worried that I will have to drill holes in my bumper. But I also saw a thread for a hole-less bracket that mounts into the tow hook area. Anybody have a lead on these or a suggestion on how to do this without messing my baby up?

Maybe eBay? What about zip tying it to the center mesh?

Do they really care for front plate in Idaho?
They do here in Boston but I still refuse to sport one. Especially with e63 front..just doesn't belong. Have had a few tix for this in my previous Audis. And Evo, a week after I took it off to upgrade intercooler lol.
Check out some hide-away kits on eBay too. Zipties/windshield can work if u must.

Yeah they do care about the front plate in Idaho, unfortunately. I dont think I want to zip tie it. That would look ...well, like I zip tied it. Thinking about just running without one for awhile and seeing where that gets me. will check out the link above and see what I can do with that.

We have a front plate law here in NJ and I never ran my M5 or Supra with one. I got one no front plate ticket at a car meet once when the cops just walked around handing out equipment violations to be dicks. Otherwise I've never had an issue.

Don't do it, eat the occasional ticket.

Agreed. I haven't run a front plate on any of my cars since I started driving and I've had roughly 3 tickets in 16 years here in TX.

If you're driving it properly, they'll never be able to read the front plate anyways.

When I had my Mustang with a fresh Cobra front end(no holes for plate, didn't want to drill into it), I was driving to work and had a cop stop in the middle of a 4 lane road to make me pass so she could see if I had an Illinois plate on the back. Pulled right behind me and issued me one of those BS village tickets. Nothing like creating a potential hazard to give someone a $50 license plate ticket.

I always run front plates now just to avoid the hassle and keep them from trying to bust me for other silly stuff like the LEGAL tint I have. They can still cite you and make you go to court to prove it's legal and waste untold amounts of time.

FU(K the front plate law! They have the front plate law here as well and I believe it was enacted for the photo radars. Like some cop is going to make out my front plate while traveling @ 40+ mph in opposite directions

I will not add a front plate to my AMG, it didn't come with holes to mount one. I went so far as to contact the state police and asked why I would be obligated to install aftermarket parts on my car (such as a license plate holder in the front). I explained my car was imported from Europe and didn't come with a front plate, they didn't care...

Like I said I have not had a front plate on my AMG for a little over a year now and have yet to get a ticket for it (I have been pulled over for other infractions but they never mentioned the front plate or lack thereof)

KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

If you are interested, there is a list for a group buy on the no hole tow hook license plate frame. It comes out to be around $50. We only need 5 more people.

You dont have to drill holes. I got a W211 OEM plate holder for $15 and rigged it with some 3M tape.

All you have to do is buy some 1in wide 3M tape and line the inside of the lc bracket. Line it up and press down on the top of the bracket where it has the most contact with the bumper. Hold it down firmly until your arms start to tremble and you should be good to go. I've had mine on like this for 4-5 months and after numerous car washes and some rain its on there. That 3M is no joke.

I've got 2 tix for not having one. In Oregon you cannot be in a paid city parking space without a FLP! $80 a pop.
After my first ticket I started putting on the dash when I parked. Within a week I got another! Has to be mounted.

I've parked my E55 and my Supra right across the street from the courthouse in downtown Portland dozens of times and I've never had an issue. The parking thugs work out of the Portland building 1 block away so they're in the area constantly. I've gotten parking tickets for my meter tag being expired by 1 minute before. But no front plate tickets.

My dad got a ticket driving my Supra one day in Salem. I was keeping it in my parents garage for the winter and when I came to pick it up in spring I saw that it had a front plate on it. When I asked him about it he said he got a ticket for not having it so he put it on. I was a little pissed to say the least.

You are damn lucky. You must be so close to the lion's den not to get tickets. Mine were both by Portland state u. I hate parking meter people. ....

they're required in CA and my E55 is the first vehicle i've had one on (the bumper is drilled so it's staying and it's one less reason to get pulled over). way back when i had a 5.0 i got a ticket for it but that was the only time. my Durango has never had one in the 9 years i've owned it and it's never been an issue. i've also been pulled over in it several times.

in CA, it's not legal to have the plate in the window either. it also looks ghetto so i wouldn't consider doing it anyways.
