Need some input
So I'm looking for a little insight here. I've owned our E55 for almost 6 months now and I've hit a little milestone. I understand this is a huge car and is a rocket, I love that. But now that I know what it can do, its not as shocking to me as once before, and the worst part is its got so much, that I can barely ever get on it...Once I do I have to come right off. So its kinda a downer. The other part is its not nimble at all. Super heavy especially in the steering...numb and no road feel. I'm not trying to bash the car I feel really privileged to own one. Also trying to drive it nice and hit it once and a while it still drinks gas. I knew it would but its still a small shock. I've owned two M3's in the past and I always had a blast driving them...they always felt planted to the road; not "wallowy" at all. But then again we're comparing two different animals. I've almost thought of selling the beast because I don't feel like I'm getting enough thrill out of it...I need any and all input...
Thanks
Matt

Thanks
Matt
My e55 feels really close to my e36 m3 that I drove for 8 years.im on pilot super sports tires and the car feels solid on the road.
It feels like a bigger e36 and has really close driving feel and feedback.
Maybe check your ball joints and the suspension over?
Im not saying the car can whip corners as fast but the driver feel is very close.even the throttle feels the same.
I test drove a 335 and my amg feels 5x better.

I've kind of had the same thoughts. I dont have a E55, but have been looking and debating for a while now. I worry after I get one, I will be bored with it too soon, vs a car like a 911 or M3 would be more entertaining in the long haul..? They both have their tradeoffs I guess. Its too bad MB never offered it in a manual...would make it a little more of a drivers car vs just straight line car.

For as heavy as it is the E55 can actually do pretty well in the twisties and is a blast to drive. I have both an E55 and a 911 - very different cars but I find myself mostly getting into the E55 as it can be quite comfortable but also is just as much fun as the 911 - but in a different manner. The acceleration of the E55 is just intoxicating.

The car is faster then 90% of the cars around here and I don't find myself running into enough competition to keep things lively. All that accompanied with the annoyance of the cheap plastics in certain spots, especially the seat and rear view mirror, just turn it somewhat off to me. I expected more from a merc of this caliber...granted its my first one so I didnt know what to expect; besides powertrain. Currently I enjoy driving my 03 A4 more..excellent interior quality no noise there, 6spd..lots of road feel from the minor "sport pack". Decent on gas, not quick by any means but more nimble and more enjoyable. I need to give it more time, I haven't had it long enough to make a good decision on this, I don't want to do something I'll regret. I'd like to take it to the track, (not drag) and see how she fairs there. Maybe a road trip or two. Thanks for the input I'll keep you guys posted!
What tires are you using?the e55 is over 4400 lbs with a driver in it and if you are on cheap tires with a soft sidewall the car will feel mushy around the corners
