50whp, lets get some factual proof on this. Still for 7K? I really wonder.

FWIW people have shown huge Dyno gains simply by running the open round filter elements right on top of the TB. They look good, but they are stil not getting anyone to buy at 8K. Renntech has had top mounts for 8K for years now, and I would doubt they have sold more than a handfull even in the days when these cars cost 100k. Selling at 3K is the price point these need to be at ..period

Well said

I don't think it would be around 3K ... just look at their SC cooling kit and you would know the answer.

3K can be affordable by a lot of people and I think it is a win win situation but unfortunately, that would not happen and I am 100% sure, I would say the price for sure will be above 5.5K

Would love to see a vendor that really look at bringing benefits to members and owners of the car before thinking of their buckets , but unfortunately real commercial life is different.

There is no doubt that the cost/HP on this one is WILDLY out-of-scale with traditional modifications:

Pulley/Tune..........+88HP........$26/HP
LT Headers..........+50HP.........$46/HP
82mm TB.............+40HP.........$50/HP
Looped Fuel Rail....+20HP.........$80/HP

EvoSport TMC......+50HP........$160/HP

Yes, you can see that there is a law of diminishing returns going on with that list, each subsequent modification costs more than the last, and gives you less HP for your money... but that shouldn't be surprising to anyone here.

The only justification on this one, might be if it can provide great IATs with a 100% stock IC cooling system. What is not considered in that price list above are the costs for things like larger IC coolers, trunk tanks, meth injection and all the other items that are actually REQUIRED if you want to get the HP you paid for under all conditions (Long WOT pulls, etc)

IF.... the EvoSport kit allows people to skip all of those other cooling mods (worth maybe $2500 - $3000??? ...I have no idea what a complete system might cost to build) the pricing gets a bit better......let's say $100/HP @ $5000.

But that is still an awfully large number, and I'll bet that people who want that last 50HP will search for it in other places (headwork?) for a more reasonable cost.

I ran an open filter with the hood closed and LOST 30whp accross the powerband.

Looped fuel rail +20hp? Lolll...

Meh....

I was looking for an example of a low-HP / high cost item to extend the "diminishing return" comment.

If you feel more comfortable, you could also use the CF Airbox or Carbonio Python tubes for that data point instead.

people are overlooking the fact that this kit's sole purpose is not to increase peak HP, but also to keep HP more consistant, than current cooling mods allow, due to heatsoak. And to be more efficient without having to keep loading up a trunk mount with ice (how convient is that on a road trip?)

how many people spend thousands of $$ on wheels that give no increased HP? How many people spend thousands of dollars on coil over setups that give no HP increase?

this mod isnt solely about increasing HP, its also about having the car run better and more consistant all the time without timing retard kicking in after a few WOT pulls.

its silly to compare intercoolers to pure power adding mods(ie pulleys) as IC is more of a supporting mod to the pure power mods and the heat they generate.

with that being said, i have not been interested in TMIC since inception since i am not trying to build a 650+ whp e55, and at the moment my IAT's are in check. but for someone that has every single power adding mod out there and is still looking to squeeze a tiny bit more of performance out of their car then this might be one of the few options left...

Its always been the case that the first HP gains come easy and cheaper than the last few HP. And evosport knows this and they know that even at 5-8K they will still be way cheaper than any other of the few TMIC that other companies have offered.

cocaine doesnt cost $130 to produce 3 grams... its more like $2 per gram in production in south america but people still pay 22 times more for it here... supply and demand is the name of the game and evosport is one of the few dealers in the game of TMIC so they can charge dealer markup to the power junkies that need a fix

+1

This is the sole purpose I wanted them built, which is the final mod needed without changing out your stock S/C.

+2, but it might be too late for me, as I have already installed a trunk tank, unless of course there is a way for the two to co-exist and work together and be better then by themselves.

No worry Jack, the trunk tank will only help. My main concern is how they regulate the temperature between the two banks.

Well, you see, water will travel thru the least resistance path. So now we have two ICs or banks, the water will have to split somewhere for the two banks. If the design is not careful in this area, you will ended up with one bank cooler than the other. I asked about this earlier in the thread and didn't hear much about. When you look at the SLR top mount IC you will see all kinda hoses crossing from one IC to the other, but nothing in the EVO kit. Just my two cents on the subject. Something to ponder before you plunge $7-8K down for something that will not work properly.

You are WAY over thinking it. There is no reason why one bank will be hotter than the other to the point where it even matters.

I would imagine so, but this would be a useless test since you never race your car with the hood open.

$8,000?!!

Dream on EvoSport, dream on.

....and if anyone wants to argue then go ahead, buy it. It's easy to say "well it's not that much" or "you have to see it from their POV" but NO, the Weistec kit coming out will be a solid kit and will definitely yield alot of power. If Weistec decides to price the SC at ~10-12k it will be a BARGAIN Vs these Top Mounts because you can sell your old SC and the new one is gonna really change the car. These Top Mounts aren't a "kit", they need supporting mods and with the current price of the E55 who is gonna pay that much for a car this old and cheap. If they wanna make money they need to produce alot just like Ahmad said and price it at ~3k which will be reasonable and they'll actually be able to sell a good amount.

If I could get my hands on the SLR system I know a local shop which does touring car engines and they do some pretty amazing fabrication. It's not gonna be that hard to create a decent top mount. EvoSport are pretending like they've developed a new engine I have an idea for EvoSport, why don't you go on the SVT forums and the Corvette forums and try to sell a cooling system for $8,000

lol...reading is hard. These are based on the SLR coolers and are being designed to accomplish the same goal for less money. If you took a moment to look through the posts instead of shooting your mouth off like a jackass you'd see that OEM SLR cooler setups run $15k+

these are $15K+ and MB wont sell them to you unless you have an SLR... not to mention some custom fab work would be needed to get these to work on the E55 so tack on a few grand to the $15K slr intercoolers... hows that $8k look now?

+1

I would have bought the SLR coolers long time ago at $16K, but the hood of my SL would have to be modified and I didn't want to go that route. These coolers are the closest I can get to the SLR's without having clearance issues and were originally going to be a one-off for me but Evosport decided to bring them to market. Regardless if they came to market late or the fact that Weistec might have a better solution for our S/C, Evosport’s coolers outperform our stock intercooler in both airflow and cooling which was the main goal.

Do you guys know if these EvoSport coolers will change the SC sound from stock (ignoring pulley upgrades). What I mean is the different intake. Will the SC sound change?
