Requesting Assistance from Muffler Deletes

I believe there are some 55 members that have deleted their mufflers. For those of you that have deleted your mufflers, can you post a pic of what it looks like (the more detail the better). I am looking for pics of how the plumbing is done to maintain your AMG exhaust tips, without the mufflers.

Thanks ahead for any response.

Just cut mufflers off. The muffler shop will extend the piping to the end and weld on the stock tips. Most likely they will make a custom hanger to support the extended exhaust. Not hard at all, any decent muffler shop can do it. Don't delete your cats or resonator or it will sound like ***.

I dont have a resonator or muffs. Sounds nice.

But I didnt use stock tips, I bought 2 3" dual exhaust tips and had those welded, no sense in hacking up stock mufflers just for the tips. Costly move right thurrrr

60mph is the trouble spot, but even then, its tolerable. Pretty quite anything above 65

Most people that do the 2nd cat delete, do the resonator delete while keeping the stock mufflers intact... makes very little difference.

Removing the above and the mufflers, your car will sound like a ghetto pos... If you want a clean sound leave the 2nd cats and res, just delete the mufflers...

I've tried a FEW setups, this will be your best bet. If you want it louder, delete the 2nd cat, put a xpipe in place. LEAVE the resonator!

Wish I had some nice fly by vids. I have long tubers, into X , into straights, res deleted but with stock muffs. I LOVE LOVE my sound. Fierce but not raspy at all. Rasp in kinda my nails on chalkboard. To each his own though, that's what it so great about these cars!

Shardul is my hero BTW. Trying to find that vid he did. It's E55 perfection!!!

Wow that is crazy loud!

I had 1 hour to kill so I stopped by a local muffler shop. For $150, they deleted the mufflers with straight pipe and Y connectors for the stock tips at the same locations and distance from the rear bumper.....and it is crazy loud.

Its a lot of fun! Especially when you get on it. In fact, I got complimented on the sound at a stop light a few miles from the muffler shop by 4 people (dressed like they were heading to culinary school or a restaurant). But, not for me as a daily driver.

Here is something crazy, the car felt slower(?) to me. Maybe I was too focused on the sound from the muffler delete and I do not know about how or what a muffler delete does on hp, but the car did feel slower to me. Anybody else had that same feeling after their muffler delete?

I will post pics of what it looks like tonight (in case others are curious). In the meantime, I ordered lightweight mufflers from Jerry at EC. They are 4lbs a piece and lighter then the stock mufflers at 21lbs a piece. The weight that I am saving (around 34lbs) should help offset the weight from the trunk tank reservoir and plumbling that I am adding and hoping to have completed by this weekend.

any time you free up exhaust back pressure in these cars you will lose enough tq to feel the difference. so your butt dyno is right on, you are slower!

what kind of actual facts do you want? slower 60ft and et without any gains in top end at the track? or loss of tq shown on a dyno? doesn't matter because i've got both. however, tuning was able to get most of the tq back and gain a tiny bit of peak hp.

i wish i could. i believe the low end tq that we lose has to do with less scavenging effect of an exhaust that's now capable of flowing better with higher volumes of air...but it's an opinion that can be argued to death. all i can say for certain is that without tuning (even though theoretically our ecu's should be able to accommodate for the slightly leaner mixture) i can feel the tq loss, have shown slower 60ft/et's, and seen the tq loss on the dyno.
