Was going pretty fast now and then But it doesnt take long before the tires get overheated with this heavy car. Next time Im going to try out some slicks/street slicks...

I responded to your pm. Sorry I couldn't hang out but like I said I had to go do some mangineering to get the race car back on the track as quickly as possible.

Norway-Cool video. Seems like the track is suited for the E63. Big sweepers.
You kept a really good line around the track, the opposite goes to the ZR1 driver !!! He broke at every turn !!! Not too often a heavy 4 door can go out and perform like that. If you try a set of Hoosiers, it will be night a day for you on grip.
Atlanta has some great tracks. Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, Barber (
AL). Atlanta Motor Speedway.
It looked like the track was pretty much empty which is nice. But I am sure the heat was a *****.

Im actually suprised over how this car takes corners, keep in mind the weight of the car and the air suspension! It rools, but it can carry more speed then i thought was possible. But as i meantioned earlier, due to the weight of the car it dosnt take long beoire you overheat your tires. My tires was 95% friday, after 2 days at the track down to 15-20%.

ZR1 took it easy, dont know why. That car is a beast with right driver!

Slicks next time

I also belive that many of the E63 driver (seen on youtube etc) makes a huge mistake with not having enough right pedal in high speed corners. If you let go on the throttle, in a typical high speed corner, you loose your tail grip...Its a fine balance between understeering & oversteering in highspeed corners on theese cars. (when driving without TC)

If this car weighed like 1550-1600kg it would be much better on the track especially with the KW Coilovers, the weight hurts it bad. Mercedes could have worked on the handling of this car more, it holds it's end on the street and is pretty stable but on the track the brakes fade, the tires shred from too much heat, too much weight and struggle for grip, the engine in the 55ks gets heat soaked. It's definitely no track car but hey, it was never made as one. Who spends most of their time at the track either?

Make sure to check the insides of your fronts, I corded my front right tire tonight after just a couple of hot laps in the E55 on Saturday. Outside/middle are totally fine. The same thing happened to our E63...front right inside after just a couple of laps at TWS.

Good to hear that you'll be running track tires next time.

Since the Hoosiers are not XL load rated, what concerns are there running them??

Answer from Hoosier:

No one’s slicks are XL rated.
You’ll just have to adjust your air pressure accordingly. You should be starting your cold pressures at 40 psi
