11 second street tire club yay

Went easy off the line 1st run and had no spin at all, ran 12.3@117 with 1.99 60ft. Got in to it a little more and again no spin 2nd try and ran 11.93@119.7 with 1.85 60 ft and it was on a back to back run 8 minutes after 1st run. Letting car cool off now and going for better! Track is hooking good.

Pretty excited.

Nice runs

It's usually so hard to launch on street tires... especially with an E55 which tires did you use?

275/30/19 General Exclaim UHP and they suck. They are hard tires which will last longer but not grip so well. They must have layed down a bunch of VHT because they are hooking.

Mods are 180mm pulley, 80mm throttle body, Kleeman headers, no cats, x pipe and magna flow mufflers. Eurocharged heat exchanger, injectors and tune (tune is not aggressive though and runs in the 11s air/fuel), cm 30 pump and k&n filters in stock airbox.

Yeah I did. I ran another run and got a 1.82 60 ft but it hung up on the 1st to 2nd shift for some reason, probably loss a tenth if not 2 and ran 11.98@120.2. Got ambitious on the following run and planted the throttle hard but spun off the line and did 12.2@120 with 1.99 60ft

Got in a rut and kept getting close to 11s with 12.06@118 then 12.04@120.7 all the cars left at this point so I said F it and hit the round robin and went again 6 minutes later to a 12.06@119.5 and then 3 minutes later 12.06@118. At this point I was like are you freaking kidding me!!!!!!!

Went back up again and 4 minutes later ran a 11.88@118 with a 1.84 60ft got excited again so decided to go again which was once again 4 minutes later and ran my best time of 11.78@118.4 with a 1.78 60ft. Decided for one last hurah and spun a little off the line to a 12.04@118 which I just noticed was again 4 minutes later lol. I guess it takes 4 minutes to get from the end of the track, do a run and get back to end of track again.

Weather was in the mid 70s and humidity was kinda high in upper 70s. Overall pretty good and fun night with a few people stunned coming up saying they were caught off guard to see me run what I did in this big 4 door car.

What is the fastest street tires time anyway? I wish I would have had the car cold for those fast runs and kept my traps at 120 with the 11.7 run instead of 118, could have maybe pulled a low 11.6 time. I need an ice tank.

Tonight I just eased in to the pedal and then planted it instead of trying to get in to it right away and it worked good. Had 12 runs with 1.9x or better 60ft with 4 of them 1.8 and one a 1.7

Damn just found that 11.77 is the quickest time on street tires, I missed it by 1 hundredth!!!!! Son of a! haha Wonder if I had 18s instead of 19s if I could have done it? Should get a slightly better trap on 18s too.

Um.. wouldn't bigger tires give you better traction/quicker times?
(Yup, I am a noob.)

Possibly better traction, buy they are taller slowing you down. My trap drops almost two mphs when I put on my drag wheels. 275/35/18 streets -----> 265/40/18 drags

They aren't any bigger (wider) than what people run on smaller wheels so there is no advantage there. And like mentioned above the actual circumference of the tire is bigger which changes the gearing of the car and will give it a slightly higher top speed in each gear (very negligable) but also slow the cars acceleration down. This is both due to the "gear change" like you put in a taller gear and also a larger wheel/tire has more unsprung weight farther from the hub which takes more energy (power) to rotate it.

That's a really good job! I'm still stock but traction is still an issue. I'll head to the track soon and post my times.

Amazing times.

Traction is the biggest issue for sure once you start mods.

I need to get to a track and see what I can do. I've never been.

PB: 11.591 at 119.13mph with a 1.647 60' on 18" street tires!!!

Just found this quote in someones sig.. So it looks as though you are not as close to the record for street tires..
