It was 50-140mph run...

Guys do not drive in M mode. Bouncing off the limiter is probably what caused this failure. Just don't know how deep into it I am.

Could be a headgasket but............

it definitely sounds like the dreaded #8 has reared its ugly head especially since it happened in the 3-4 shift range.

Now, as for the engine, find out the problem. Do a visual, a compression test and check out the plugs. This first step will reveal alot. Good luck and keep us posted.

Remember, its just an engine...that can be replaced.
Posts like this made me smile. I want to thank you sir for your support because it really has helped me cope with everything. Thanks jcjmw, Bruce, Vazha, Todd Christ, Shardul, Red Bull, Sher Judge, 99Dirtybird, GregMB, AKnight55, urbanworm. I will keep everyone posted.

Sorry to see this. It would help others to post up your entire mod list. I would like to know if you have larger injectors, modified fuel rail, etc.

Sorry to hear about this issue Johncy. Let me know if you need ANYTHING!

Do as the other members have suggested. Start at #8 and pull the plugs and do a compression test. Where this happened(top of 3rd into 4th) is where the stock injectors go static and starts the destruction of #7 and #8.

Where you having any delays between the 3-4 shift? Were you shifting manually?
Thanks Bruce! I was shifting manually. It just revved up so fast I could not keep up with the shifting.

I see you have a 2012 CLS.

Well you could just ECU tune your CLS and it's 530hp and 609 TQ from RT. How much was the E55 pushing?

So you didn't have bigger injectors on the car when this happened? Sorry to hear this :/ Good luck, hopefully it doesn't cost much to get you back on the road.

That is a freakin' Greek tragedy right there...

The parts that might have saved the motor were already ordered and ALMOST installed.

I am by no means an expert like some people on here but if the injectors are practically static at stock redline, I can only imagine how bad they would be running a few hundred RPMs beyond that.

Hope its just a headgasket.

get out there and pull the plugs

If I were to guess is when you hit the rev limiter the ecu pulled alot of fueling and then the engine took a beating.I think our cars cut fuel at the rev limiter so at 6800 rpms with no fuel I dont think even the injectors would of saved it.

I hate that we can hit the rev limiter in M and I never race in M anymore becasue I too have bounced off the limiter because the car wont shift when you hit the paddle and by the time the car shifts you already hit the limiter for 2 seconds.

damn bro, I'm sorry to hear about that....I know it's a pain having to open the hood and try to figure out what went wrong, but you have to start from somewhere.....Hopefully it's nothing too serious and I hope you're able to rebuild what you have.

Can someone confirm? Is this true, and if so why would the comp pull back on the fuel when it is most critical?

Skratch elaborate please.. I run in M mode because I love being able to get maximum power when I want it. When you say "hit the rev limiter" are you referring to the maximum RPM that the comp will allow? So for example, I'm in x gear and take it all the way up to where the RPM needle is bouncing, is this me hitting the rev limiter?

Also your statement about hitting the limiter when racing, wont you get better times shifting before hitting the limiter? When you hit the limiter is it just bad timing on your part or do you mean the delay in the shift after you've depressed the button?

Where was the smoke coming from? The engine itself or from the tailpipes?

Thanks for the comments guys. I really appreciate it. I hope its just a headgasket Skratch. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. How do I pull the plugs? Do I have to remove the airbox and stuff like that?

Just found this thread! I'm sorry to hear buddy! Hopefully it isn't something too serious and you can get your car back on the road soon!

If it isn't, I guess it's an excuse to start building her and get back on the road swinging!

Best of luck and even though I don't think I can do much, let me know if I could help in ANY way!

Its pretty straight forward.pop the airbox off and then un screw the hex nut holding the coil pack.the number 8 is the cylinder close to the fuse box near the fire wall on the drivers side.

After you pop the coil pack loose try to pull the wires off with your hand.its a tight fit but it can be done.might need a wide flat head to help.

What ever you do i would not run the car and tow it to a shop.

Scan the codes and see what numbers miss fired but im afraid that the worst is already done since you saw white smoke so either way you will need to open her up.

Thanks bro! I was thinking earlier about either rebuilding her or parting her out if the damage is done. I should have installed the Fuel Rail and Injectors from Bruce earlier in my opinion. I'm still very shocked right now.

X2. Let me know if there is anything you want/need, or if you need any help with anything. I have a week off, and the bay area is only a hop and a skip from me!

If worse comes to worse, car-part. Com has a used motor listed for 3500 sans blower.
