Check out the post by R.Range, buy the motor out of his wrecked car or ship the motor to Shardul. These are the avenues I would explore.

for christs sake, nobody even determined the car needs a rebuild.

Has there been ANY attempt at diagnosis?

Exactly, how can an informed decision be made without knowing the true facts. Everything to this point is just a reaction to a CEL and white smoke.

If its a bent valve you can send your heads to Rebello Racing, they are in Antioch

Whats up guys. So I need a new engine because the ring lands or something like that, on the pistons are busted. My dad is not willing to pay 9000 grand for a new engine. This means I am selling the car. I cannot even begin to tell you guys how much I have loved owning this car. It was a dream that became a reality for me. But quickly turned into my worst nightmare. lol I have learned a lot of things because of everyone here. Without this website, my car would not have been the way it is today. So I just want to thank all the people that have helped me throughout building my car. You guys know who you are! For all the E55 members here, I want to tell you guys that you have the sickest car on the road! AMG FOR LIFE!!

Its time to save for a CL65!!

Sorry to hear That brotha. Which ring lands got damaged and would you be willing to sell the hurt motor seperate from the car? You could sell the car as a roller. What is nice about your situation for potential buyers is that the banks and credit unions would still loan full nada value on your car. That would be several thousand above your asking price so a potential buyer could build a tank of a motor just from a loan value. If I was in the market I would much rather buy a car like your than a stock dealer car.

I don't think you will have a problem selling at all. Let me know on the motor sir.

I have no idea which ring lands were busted. But in terms of the motor all see what I can do. Maybe I can sell the car without the motor and sell the motor to you. I'll find out.

Did the mechanic not tell which specific cylinders were affected or give you an assessment of the damage?

I'd buy your car in a heart beat if I were local to you. Chawkins is right and quite frankly, building one of these engines is a piece of cake.

How much would it cost to replace the damaged piston(s), and upgrade to TTM fuel rail?
Cant think of anything else it would need except larger injectors and a retune.

WOW! I can't believe I'm reading this.... Daddy won't pay your way on this one?

Any thoughts about acting like a grown up and paying your own expenses? You still live at home, right?.... most likely rent-free. Food's probably free too. Does dad still pay the car insurance premiums?

You could try taking out a loan to pay for this repair... Not as good as "free money from dad" but at some point in life you'll need to take some personal responsibility for your own decisions /mistakes / expenses. Spread those payments out over 3 or 4 years and it should be easy to manage...even with a crappy-paying job.

You do have a job, right?

Not at all....actually.

This is a great "teaching moment" and perhaps an opportunity for some personal introspection and growth.

Just because dad doesn't want to pick up the tab for this one doesn't mean that all is lost. It possible for Johncy to take ownership of the situation and solve this one himself.

CL65s and the 65 motor in general is simply amazing

Good luck with your search and sorry to hear about your car, man!

If you think the 55 has issues well it cost money to keep a cl600 or 65 going. I work on several "6" in my area and if its not one thing its another on those beasts. You better put away at least $1K to $2K a year on maintenance. From the shifter lock issues to the darn coil packs or the little vaccum lines busting or the crank postion sensor. Good luck with your next puchase.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Haha I do still live at home. But at least I have a job and goto school. The only reason why I still live at home is because I goto a community college. I paid for every single mod I did for my car as well as maintenance.

Even if I wanted to do something about this problem myself, it would take a whole year in savings to even start fixing my car. I want to save up at least 20K for a down payment on a CL65 one day.
