RIP My E55
And I am still in shock. I don't know what to do now. I went for a freeway blast and was in M mode. 3-4 shift I missed it and RPMs bounced off the limiter. This caused my car to go up in smoke. It sounded like it was not in good shape. The idle was very rough but there was no ticking or anything like that. White smoke started to accumulate in the engine bay but the engine was not overheating. My E55 is dead and I am so sad that this happened. I feel like a part of me has taken away. Any pointers on what to do would be great. Thanks for all your guys help and input throughout these years. Johncy

Unfortunately this hobby is "pay to play"... Nobody wants to join the "E55 Blown Motor Club" but sometimes the guys who are really pushing the HP/TQ limits of these cars pay the ultimate price.

If your motor's blown. This will be a great time to stroke her, and upgrade you charger to a Whipple, Weistec or Kenne Bell.
I have no idea of the mods to do this, but if I ever smoked my E55K motor, that's the route I'd go.
Sorry once again.

Now, as for the engine, find out the problem. Do a visual, a compression test and check out the plugs. This first step will reveal alot. Good luck and keep us posted.
Remember, its just an engine...that can be replaced.
how many miles? mods?
are these engines really built to last?
Just don't ask who's tune was on it unless you want to start a total ****storm here....
People are hyper-sensitive about that topic.
I will be curious to hear if it turns out to be a lean #8 cylinder that detonated, and whether this car was running larger injectors and/or the TTM fuel loop.

If you are attached to your car as much as I am to mine, I sincerely send my condolences. The important thing is, others mentioned it, is that it is just a car. You can always regroup and rebuild.
Also, I think everyone here is interested to know the conditions that were present at the time of the failure. What mods did you have? What was the temperature when you were pushing it? Also, were you in high RPM's under load or just cruising along normally?
Again sorry to hear about the ride. I guess you have to open her up and asses the damage. It may not be as bad as you think..
Sorry to hear about this issue Johncy. Let me know if you need ANYTHING!
Do as the other members have suggested. Start at #8 and pull the plugs and do a compression test. Where this happened(top of 3rd into 4th) is where the stock injectors go static and starts the destruction of #7 and #8.
Where you having any delays between the 3-4 shift? Were you shifting manually?
