New 05 E55 owner
Just picked up an 05 e55, black on black, replaces my '02 I need to sell.
Doing some basic maintenance :
Tranny flush
IC pump replace
Pulley/belt check
Any other recommendations ? It was dealer serviced and they already did the fuel sender & assembly, valve cover gaskets etc...
Already ordered replacement stock gloss black grill ( prev owner put giant star grill on it)
Going to start looking for backup camera & ipod solution, add ons to factory command look almost the cost of a new head unit :-)

Mods should be 168 pulley, tune and Bosch HE pump. Keep it simple , that right there will be a healthy increase in reliable power bro. Congrats on buying a soon to he icon of the auto world.

I got a gloss black one off eBay for $129 shipped and a stock one of a board member. I think I'll like the gloss black but we'll see. My car came with giant star one that looks like the c class grill and not my taste for the E.

I thought I'd completed the 12 step program, my old eclipse gsx had the stock block and pistons but I'd changed everything else, my z06 I managed to just do rear end, intake and Dyno tune. Guess I shouldn't have bought another forced induction car :-)

Definitely want a tune, I picked up 20hp on my z06 just on tune and driveabilty and throttle response was amazing. Need to start scoping out reputable e55 tuners in the Atlanta area. I think the pump, tune and pulley will be it, which 168 pulley is the most reasonable but still a quality piece?

Congratulations and welcome aboard! We really like pictures. Don't be shy to post a few
So, ladies and gentlemen, I am curious as to why the mod population here is either primarily or all E55s. Is it safe to say the 63 doesn't mod as well? I don't believe I have seen talk about 63 mods, unless I missed those threads.

Congrats OP and welcome to the clan. Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have. I'm up in Alpharetta and do almost all the work on my car myself (except warranty work).
Nanky, it seems that way because forced induction motors respond very well to mods (which also means more power for the same $ amount spent).
The weistec (spelling?) kit though could change that but there's still that merc tax.

Search Threads. Tons of conversations about this, Basically the only items that work are exhaust parts reduction/modifcation (Better Flow/ Longtube Headers), Renntech Airbox ($2600), and a Tune. Good luck and even then if you compare $$ E63 to $$ E55 you get more power on the E55 for the same spend.
Ohh and if you are so privledged you can go the Weistec Supercharger route starting at $15,000 for just parts.

To answer some of your questions.

Since you're an 05, I'd consider plugs, Keeping CPS handy for the day it fails,

Aux vid input can be added for $3-500 I believe (lookup midcityengineering I think, and there was some company in florida that sells the ribbon. Either way you gotta pull the comand out to have these done.
With all that trouble I'd personally just get an aftermarket HU with everything and a lot more and of course, a useful navigation interface.

Congrats on the purchase. I came from a SC'ed C5 Z06 too.
There are many good tuners/vendors on here, but I have to give a vote to Buckhead Import Performance for their top notch work and customer service for all the locals.
Where are you located? I am on the northside near nanayaw6

I actually got to have a little fun last night to see how she pulled in this 35 deg weather, I think I said holy **** several times... Reminds me of the raw power of my Z06, very happy

What is it with mercedes and CPS, I replaced the one on my 02 as well I'm also shocked at the pulley costs, I had an AEM on my eclipse, billet, dampened, very nicely manufactured, I think it was less than $200, I guess that's the AMG tax
