just curious as these beasts are harder and harder to come by, either beat to hell, or miles out the wazoo...

well as much fun as you guys are having - there aren't many of these cars on the market, and finding one-owner models barely exist anymore... well, maybe except for that one in Illinois that has 7,500 miles on it and they want $56k for it

My reason for the poll (other than to make most of you laugh) is that owners who've had their E55s for a few years just take it for granted how easy it was to get their cars as CPO, or single owner - now most cars are 3-4 owners deep, and have been passed through auctions, used car lots and who knows what... it's hard to find cars under 60k miles that are this old.
not sure about all the owners here, but how many are original E55 owners that bought them new off the lot - not many I bet.

I knew of several with under 60K miles on em for sale in November when I was looking. Some had stories some didn't.
Your best bet is to lay low, read quietly, go buy the damn thing finally, and re-register with a new name. Turdster would be funny?
I was looking for a cram puff, but I read how people waited for months for one to pop up and I'm anything but patient. Had a car i liked locally with low miles pop up with some blemishes but in overall great shape and I jumped on it. If you wait for every star to align you may never own one of these. Your not buying new, your buying used so getting the color/options/miles/price all exactly where you want it will be quite rare if not impossible. Especially if you want a real nice example for a great price.
Find something descent, take it for a ride and get a PPI and buy the thing.

<rant on/>and offending the new guys who are interested in what you guys have experience with builds 'community' right? the guy bashing me didn't even have an E55, but that's ok because he owns a Merc - right? I guess stepping into the MB stomping ground isn't taken lightly, even for potential future owners... if MB dealerships treated a new customer like this, there'd be no MB to buy from because they'd be out of business due to poor customer experiences </rant off>

Not sure what your budget is but this looks like a pretty nice car/price.
