CEL storytime
Had regular service and some warranty work done a couple weeks ago.
(oil n air filter, engine mounts, front thrust arms, brakes)
2 days later, CEL. I bring in, right and left banks lean. Clear the codes and tell me to drive it again.
run a few more days. CEL comes back.
reset comptuer (tried sneaky and disconnecting power)
CEL stays on.
Bring in, clears codes, tells me to keep driving and see if comes back again. This time lasts 4 days.
Bring back in, same codes. smoke test. now says intake manifold gasket leaking. replaces that. 3 days later. CEL
Bring back, SAME CODES as before, plus a new one something about the evap purge sensor. he keeps it for 2 days to drive it and play with my car. Ends up putting another set of new air filters and ordering me the magical red top diptstick.
I had put 5K care free miles on it and ever since he stuck his hands under my hood for the original service i have been having the CEL. No rough starts, no rough idle, just the annoying CEL keeps coming on.
re: not going back. i do believe he is competent and trying his best, but that doesnt forgive his screw ups. If i take it elsewhere i lose all my leverage in blaming him for the problem. Ill update after the weekend. will be putting some serious mileage on over the 3-day wknd.

Mine actually got worse though. It started will the CEL's you are talking about and a rough idle. Eventually I had giant poofs of white smoke coming out of the exhaust at startup. Took it to one garage near my work and they told me I needed to replace the entire intake manifold because it was cracked. I thought this was crazy so I went to another garage with a tech I trust more and they said it was probably a leaking manifold gasket. However, once they took the intake manifold off they found that there was quite a bit of oil inside it - apparently not normal. Anyway, they cleaned everything and replaced some valves or something - I will have to get the specific info from them and post it. This helped for a couple days but then the CEL came back. The car is back in the garage today, so I should have more info soon.

ya know i forgot to ask if he used the right bolts from the tsb when he did the intake gasket. that was stupid of me to assume he would. Ill find out.
I do wonder about a TSB I saw somewhere stating that the manifold bolts were switched to one time use bolts. Anyone have anymore info on that? I'm fairly certain they didn't replace my bolts when they changed my manifold gasket - no charge for bolts.

16 copper bolts 55$ to put in the shardul specials
The dealer told me to reuse them but shardul told me buy new ones...even the dealership reuse them no wonder there's cels...
