If you don't like my post then quit posting on it you moron. I don't give a **** what you think about me or my car. Forums are to ask questions and talk to people who know abou cars which is why I joined. Obviously you don't or you would talk about cars rather that run your mouth about **** that doesn't affect you. So either answer the question or turn off the computer and go find a new hobby.

OMG OP are u like new to the internet?
I dont know who told you that forums are for asking questions and demanding answers. That doesnt happen here.
Another reason banning N00bs from starting threads until a 150 min post count.
I dont know of any car forum woth going to where people just randomly post when they could have easily searched for the information. Any of the three IB Forums I'm a memeber of would have jumped on you here like this section has.
The ABCs of the W211 AMG Section
1. Look
2. Lurk
3. Buy
4. Post

Because the Toad is off to gather his new to him E55, I will help you out. Please understand this is compliments of Toadster. It has nothing to do with your begging and pleading and general wonderful disposition as displayed on the quote above.

You people embarrass me. You do not represent all E55 owners. The best E55 owners help out prospective buyers, they don't taunt them or abuse them.
It's one thing to suggest a search. It is another to be abusive. In my opinion, a number of people in this thread need probation, if not outright bans.
To answer the original question, in my experience, the E55 is more costly to maintain and run than my 996TT. It will likely be more expensive than you Boxter. Remember, you are buying a car that cost close to $100K. Maintenance is commensurate with the original purchase price.
There are some particularly areas of failure, such as the Airmatic and the IC pump. A search WOULD be helpful for you to learn. Once you have, please come back and those of us that are Not absolute Jerks will continue to try to help you.
Personally, I love our E55 and think it is a great car. Apples to Oranges when compared to a Boxter, but both fine cars. Concentrate on an '05 or newer.
Either get an extended warranty, or plan on repairs.
All that said, you'll love the car.

No offense guy... This car is 9 years old... Save for owners trying to push power to new levels EVERYTHING has been covered on this car. This clown could have looked for something... I searched for weeks before I decided about posting. Did I post about cost of ownership? Sure did... But I asked what costs were like for DIYers... Everyone was more than helpful and welcoming. When I asked a question that I was dead positive would not have been covered... I got the same reaction, and was entirely embarrassed I didn't search. Considering in the last 2 months I have been regularly posting in here there have been no fewer than 5 of these threads(not including my own) I think it's high time that these prospective owners search about the car... It's beating a dead horse.
I am apart of (no exaggeration) 80 car forums and knowing to use the search function is just forum etiquette. I have seen Audi, mb, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Subaru, lotus, Lamborghini, VW, etc owners all do this very same thing. This has nothing to do with how E55 owners are. Off the forum they are the friendliest group of owners(next to the Ferrari owners) I have had the pleasure of meeting

+1 and just got back from the Cheesecake Factory myself. Only I passed on the cheescake! So after a 90 minute wait, 4 beers, and a 60 minute dinner......feel the same. Erase this stupid post, search, read, buy!!!!!!!!

It's a 90 minute wait at a Cheescake Factory in the middle of Ohio?
I only thought it was South Florida where the waits were long
I personally like the Miso Salmon Dish or the Factory Burger.
By any chance do you know what kind of bread do they serve you while you wait for your entree?
