They are going to ignore. The only way it gets recalled is if NHTSA forces them to do so.

NHTSA are certainly not looking good here, they have done recalls and for much less severe situations, NHTSA are showing what the MB money gives,protection.... amazing corruption

I posted this in the W211 fourm for my 2007 E550. The car has 76,000 miles on it.

Confirmation Number (ODI Number) is: 10504283

Went out of town 03/20/13 and filled car up for the first time since ownership and noticed very strong gas odor in back seat. I did not re-fill to come back home, only 3/4 fill.

Lift up your rear seat, remove cover for fuel sender, and clean up the pool of gasoline.

I just replaced both fuel senders and my fuel tank for ~$2700. I asked my SA if he thought that was odd that I needed to replace an *** fuel tank on a 10 yr old car and he said "not around here, we do them about once every two weeks."

Seriously, that sounds like some ****ty quality.

Todays news i saw!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Ford Motor is recalling 465,000 of its current model year cars due to a fuel leak that poses a fire risk.

The company said the models include 2013 Ford Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Fusion, Interceptor Utility and Interceptor Sedan, as well as the Lincoln MKS, MKT and MKZ.

Ford (F, Fortune 500) said it is not aware of any incidents of fire due to the fuel leak, or of any injuries caused by the defect. Ford said it had received 600 complaints about the fuel leak from customers as of March 31.
Last July, Ford recalled 11,500 of its 2013 Escape SUVs because a defect in the fuel line that could cause a fire. At the time Ford took the unusual step of advising drivers not to even drive the vehicles until they were repaired. There was no such warning with the most recent recall.

Its a damn shame Mercedes does not care about the safety and well being of its buyers and their families.

We should approach Jenelle Embrey to be our spokeswoman. She has been a huge supporter of the recent case against Chrysler and was on CNN today:

one car at a time
So I know I and others have asked before, but maybe now we can get some more information / ideas : Do you think it would be possible to get a fuel cell made and use an external fuel pump, but still utilize the stock float / fuel level sender ? I know the fuel cell and fuel pump could be easy, but I would like to retain the factory fuel gauge. Thoughts ?

After seeing the recent article in USA Today about the recall on Jeeps, I sent in a request to them with regards to this Preliminary Evaluation that has been upgraded to an Engineering Analysis.

I just had the work done about a month ago for both fuel senders and the fuel tank. I'll post up the numbers tomorrow.
