WOT hesitation after EC tune
I just received a EC tune for my e55 a few days ago...only mods being the EC 172mm pulley. At wot it feels good in first gear but in the top of second gear and all of 3,4, and 5th it feels like esp is kicking in where the power will fall off then kick in then fall off in a rythmic fashion if that makes sense.
I thought that it might be the fuel pumps not getting enough fuel to the injectors as they had about 60k on them. I replaced both and same issue. I also have brand new spark plugs.
What could the issue be? Any ideas that you can give me without taking the car on a dyno to diagnose? I'm going to swing by an auto shop tomorrow morning and see if there are any codes. The cel is not on, is it possible that there is a code being thrown and this can be causing the issue, even though the cel is off?
The car drove perfectly fine prior to the tune with no wot issues and this current hesitation issue only happens at wot. If I go half to 3/4 throttle it is fine.
Any insight would be helpful.

I'm having this exact same issue on my E63. I just got tuned a couple weeks ago. I haven't had a chance yet to investigate, since the car runs perfectly fine most of the time, but I'll probably dig into things on Tuesday. I was thinking fuel pumps too but I'll look at some other things since that didn't fix your problem. If my shop can't find anything, I'll give Jerry a call and see if he has run into this issue before.
Keep us posted if you find anything and I'll do the same.

I have an OEtune and experience the same issue but, It happens when temps get too high.... If I make 2 consecutive passes down the track. If you dont have a HE, get one and check your IC pump..Contact EC.

Warmer weather, heat soak, makes sense to me. Could be pulling timing, not sure about these cars, but assume they have knock sensors. Contacting EC is the best bet, they are the pros.

I will make a video and I just replaced the HE pump with a new johnson cm30 from EC as well. I contacted adam over at EC yesterday and I'm waiting to hear back.

I'm running the stock HE as well, but the ambient temps were around 65F the past couple days and I wasn't driving the car hard at all.

From what I've experienced so far, the hesitation will occur irregardless of the car being cool or not. I've ruled out the injectors for now as well given the cars flawless performance prior to the tune. I'm almost thinking that maybe I got a tune for a 175 pulley and not the 172 or something along those lines as the hesitation does feel like timing is being retarded, just not sure....is that even possible? I will try the battery unplug tonight as well.

Log your car and you will likely have your answer....Who installed your pulley ? ( I have a 175mm and add on pieces that I need to have installed...)

Since we are all guessing....I am going to guess in order of likelihood :
(1) Your IATs are climbing b/c the CM30 is not working...and the S/C is cutting out
(2) Your car is running too lean, knocking, and the ECU is pulling a ton of timing...
(3) Belt slippage if the issue is RPM based irregardless of gear

Yeah, all guesses at this point. I would initially rule out the pump as its brand new and it has been pretty cold the past couple days and the hesitation occurs all the time, even if I were to start the car for a minute then go wot. Number 2 sounds right, at least that is my guess currently and the belt slipping is also a possibility as this only happens at wot when the supercharger is engaged.

I tried to purchase a live scanning tool today that has playback but they were sold out so I'm going to have to wait until Monday and run the car by benzworks in huntington beach for them to diagnose. I also got word back from adam at EC and he recommended a re-flash so depending what we find on Monday, I will reflash possibly. Hoping it is something simple like the belt slipping
