Got pulled over, and don't want points on my DL (long read)
So yesterday morning I am on my way to a store about 20 minutes away, mostly in a 55 MPH zone. So I am driving along and about half way there I catch up to a silver malibu thats behind a silver pickup, thats only doing 40.. And the driver of the malibu was peeking over constantly and riding the trucks a$$ as if he were going to pass, but wouldn't even if the gap was entirely big enough. So i throw my signal on, and go all out as to give him (driver of the truck) the impression that maybe 40 is a little bit slow. Well, in the process of passing, I achieve a good 95-100 MPH.
Then the silver car (malibu) passes him as well, and the driver throws his visors down and what do you know, hes an undercover. So I pull over, shut the car off, and roll the windows down as I put my hands on the wheel, and I figured since he saw the brute force of the 55K, I might as well remove the keys from the ignition and set them on the roof(which he actually REALLY appreciated). So he comes up to my window and says, "you didn't have to put your keys on the roof, but I appreciate you making me feel a lot safer." So then he proceeds to tell me why he pulled me over (I knew playing the "why did you pull me over" line would have pissed him off so I admitted to speeding, but never said how fast). Well, my luck. His radar showed 97MPH. Then a marked cop arrives on scene and talks to the unmarked. Then after a good 15 minutes, he comes back with my papers and asks me if I have anything illegal on me and asks to search my car, and I was co-operative the whole way. I guess I passed his test, because he never did search me or the car. I then ask him if my lawyer could help me out so I dont lose my DL. then he asked me who my attorney was, and after telling him, it was like a light switch clicked in his head. his whole demeanor changed. So then he goes back to his car and comes back with my ticket, and surprisingly enough, he let me off with doing 74mph in a 55mph. Now to the point. Is there a way I can get this ticket to remain on the down low to my insurance company? last thing I need is my rates to sky rocket. I have no problem paying the $125 fine, but I really cant afford for my insurance to go up. Any ideas?
Figured I would throw a pic in

not sure about il. but tn has driving school you can go to and upon completion (usually 8 hr class) the ticket is purged. fines and school costs apply but the ticket never gets posted

Go to your court date, dress nice and be sincere & honest..alot of times ( not always! ) the Judge notes the effort you made and will knock-off the points and you will just pay the fine. I am 2 for 2 doing this method.

Take firechaser's advice and feel damn lucky the cops gave you one hell of a break.
I actually did something equally as stupid when I was 16. I passed an unmarked Washington State Patrol while going about 100 in my dads 69 Olds with a 455 4 barrel in it. The WSP flashed his lights, waved his finger at me and drove off. I went straight home, changed my shorts and rode my 10 speed for the next week or so.

Just plea Unsafe driving, which is what most lawyers do thinking your getting a good deal but anyone can plea that. I think you get 3 within a 5 year period. I had 3 unsafe drivings within 3 weeks of tickets in my early civic days. Fees are A LOT but better than going on your record. Usually every ticket is around $350-$500.

A lot of courts are willing to drop the points for cash deal, talk to the prosecutor and they usually speed up the process. Unfortunatly your insurance co. will get a wind of this anyway. You might want to talk to the insurance people and tell them that you got a ticket maybe they will forgive you this one if you do a lot of appologizing and some interesting reason why you drove faster then the speed limit. Good luck!

He said that you can use that only once every 3 years, if you used it more the once and they catchup to it, it will lead to suspension of driving privliges.

Good idea, but I wouldn't call Insurance because this happened to me when I got 3 tickets within a couple of weeks and they kept 1 ticket on my record even though the court never sent it to them. I did all cash deals, VERY costly. My rates went up after i called insurance but then I called them back a few months later for the new billing year and told them that I payed it off in court so it shouldn't be on my record, which they looked into and i was right.

Your story is flawed... Why only pic of crown vic? I would assume the crown vic pulled up behind the unmarked Malibu you passed... and not took the time to parallel park between you.
Plus radar isn't able to be used to calculate speed when both you and the "unmarked malibu" are traveling in the same direction, doubt he paced you either. Sounds like you got caught by an officer for passing 2 cars at the same time going 95-100mph.

Since you have a lawyer, call him / her ....posting here will only hurt you as you have now documented that you were driving well over the speed limit.

75 in a 60 zone, paid $250 fine, no big deal
55 in a 35 zone, paid fine, no big deal
no front license plate, paid $124 fine, no big deal (did not know point was add to record)
85 in a 60 zone, went to court, cop no show. Got fined anyway, plus point on record and insurance cancelled policy, had to paid 3x the premium to get coverage.
79 in a 45 zone, paid traffic lawyer $350 got it drop down to a seat belt
ticket $124.
85 in a 60 zone, paid traffic lawyer $350 got it dismissed no fine no point.
95 in a 65 zone, paid traffic lawyer $450 got it dismissed no fine no point.
Moral of the story, paid a lawyer! and the good thing about getting a lawyer is that you don't even have to show up for court.

I also live in il and up were im at we dont work with points. I would plead guilty pay the ticket and becareful if the law is the same down south then you would need 3 tix before it gets to your insurance company i have had a few speeding tix a yr and hasnt shown up on my insurance. Check with your local authoritys and maybe call a insurance agent and ask them as well then make your desicion.
