Looking to optimize my Dash Command setup


There are a few variables to really dial in the car...

Here are the settings I used: (some auto-generated by DC)

any recommendations for Frontal Area, shift rpm?

also, does the Eurocharged tune modify redline?

Eurocharged raises rpm redline to 6700rpm I believe.

Looks pretty cool, does it read knock retard though?

I thought redline was bumped a little

it shows timing advance/retard - not sure if it's logging the knock sensor other than showing the timing difference...

nice pics, but remember when logging from OBD2, as you select more parameters it will slow the data transfer down significantly....i try to log just 2 or 3 items from OBD2...

what is shown in the screens above is in the default setup - pretty nice, minimal lag so far...

there are a TON of options behind the scenes - right now, doing good with IATs

Todd - What IATs are you seeing ? Today I was a bit inland (only 5 or so miles from the ocean) and it was ~100 out and my IATs went from ~115 to ~160 on several 3rd gear full pulls....Crazy....

does anyone know the frontal area (coefficient of drag)? I saw somewhere on the site that the E63 is .29 - is the E55 different?

what about the Shift Point: (most economical shift rpm?)

as Jim suggested above - the specs for drive ratios is the gear ratio (1 through 5) multiplied by the final drive ratio (stock is 2.65)
so the E55 ratios should be:

Gear x Final Drive = Ratio
3.59 x 2.65 = 9.51
2.19 x 2.65 = 5.80
1.41 x 2.65 = 3.74
1.00 x 2.65 = 2.65
0.83 x 2.65 = 2.12

Got the PLX WiFI last night but can't get it to sync with DashCommand

I did the PLX setup using 192.169.0.11 subnet 255.255.255.0

Is there an obscure setup area in DashCommand to setup the wifi connection?

mine hooked up quickly - did you turn on the Kiwi?
(not being dumb, but I didn't realize there was a power switch)

I think in the directions you can setup the application to be 192.168.0.10
be sure to set the port to 35000

The directions said to start the car before plugging it in. Once I plugged it in the face lights up and I see it as an available WiFi device on my iPhone.

Pretty confident that the WiFi part is working. In dashCommand there seems to be an area in Setup (OBD-II data port) where you can choose either "auto" or custom IP. Default was auto, but I think maybe I should be confiding the IP and port # manually in that area? Is that how yours is?

Weird. I just noticed that my VIN was automatically logged under vehicle info.

Obviously the connection worked at least briefly at one point. How much of that vehicle data has to be filled in beforehand?

it picked up my VIN and read the PIDs - go into your vehicle setup and enter in as much info and validate the PIDs - it should work like a champ

How do you get it to show IAT's? I didnt see that as an option? Also what # is normal?

with my new FT-P Heat Exchanger and a new I/C (Bosch) pump - I can generally have IATs ~10*F hotter than ambient (so far that's what I've seen)

Toad, I am in the process of doing the same tweaking for better readings. Firstly, double check your tire circumf...

Also, have you had any luck getting torque or HP readings? If so, do you feel those could be reliable figures, or just calculations based on data entered x phones onboard accelerometer?

I just got this app, and the newest china-made wifi device, and am really looking forward (or at least hoping) to this app providing accurate and valuable data.

Generally one see IATs ~20 - 25 degrees above ambient after driving for a bit (cruising), but once you go WOT you will see the IATs climb high. I cannot speak for Todd's setup, but with mine on repeated back to back 3rd gear pulls, with ambient ~93 my IATs will go above 165. For just one pull they will stay below 140.

yes - I modified to 80" for circumerence - it's close, but not 'perfect'

Those screen shots sure look pretty, but your real life data logs leave a lot to be desired.
Just checking the three you took while dynoing, linked below. The first two scans, your IAT never refreshed so you had zero data points for IAT. The third scan, it refreshed at the start of the pull only. The other parameters refreshed at a better rate, but still incomplete data. Were you possibly logging more than the four parameters shown?
