1/4 Mile Times

Went to the track today for a test and tune session with my 2003 E55 with 1000 miles.

The best run was the first - 12.506, had problems getting traction on the other 4 runs and ran 12.8-12.9. Track temperature was 82F.

Details:
RT .592
60' 1.845
1/4 12.506
MPH 110.80

MPH was 109-110 on the other runs but 60 foot times were 2.04-2.10 as the wheels would spin. I ran with ESP on and nailed it from idle.

Any suggestions for better launches?

Wow, those are nice times, congratulations!
I belive you can improve thou.

Assuming you are not power braking, I'd suggest not to floor it immediately, try just over half throttle, let it go to about 20 mph and them floor it.

Make sure your front tires are at about 45 lbs, and the rears at about 25 or less is spinning persists, a/c off (of course), more than 1/2 tank of gas, with your spare in the car (you need the extra weight on the rear).

Keep improving!

I have 2500 miles on mine now and have been playing with my G-Tech. Take it for what it is worth, I have been running around 12.27 most of the time. My best run was 12.17. Even if it is off by 2/10ths it is still close to the 12.4's that have been reported.

I have tried both ESP and non with the best runs with it on. I just get too much wheelspin with it off to get good launches.

I find that the best times have come with a mild powerbrake of around 2300 to 2400 but I am still experimenting. The trick seems to be to ge the car to allow a bit of wheelspin without shutting down too much power. A big powerbrake has just resulted in the computer shutting way down....

I will be taking it to the strip in a couple of weeks for some real numbers.

Enjoy

I ran 114 traps in 95 degree weather here in Orlando with 98% of humidity that day, the weather was nasty, but I was happy with the consistant 114 traps, I know when the weather goes down the car will trap 116 no problem. I also ran with the ESP on Can't wait for the winter....

PS: Awesome 60 ft though, 1.8 that is great !! the time is good too, street tires or drag radials??

I ran 12.7@114 several times 2.0-2.1 60 ft, I cut one time 1.99 but it was real hard on that track due that the prep SUCKS badly. Like I said previously, I had the ESP on because without it I was all over the place spinning, but I am fixing to get some drag radials with some wheels and go back and see what it does. Im guessing anywhere around 12.3-12.2 or so.

Well, the more you spin the higher trap speed.
03E55AMG, what tire pressure did you run on the rear?
I was expecting better times

Not entirely true in every case....especially when the vehicle such as this can induce so much tire spin.

Rear tire pressure was at 25psi, but the track sucked..they didnt prepared it right...the car will NEVER hook well with the stock tires brake boostin..

Get thee to your local BFG dealer, and pick up some g-force drag radials. They'll fit on your stock wheels, and your traction woes will disappear for good.

Of course, you'll need to have a set of wheels for daily driving if you do that...
