My First AMG

So I am a sales rep at a MB dealer, only 4 months in, and a customer traded in a 07' e63. It was love at first sight!!! It's pewter on black, and I am in LOVE with this vehicle. I was a little weary about purchasing an AMG due to the fact i found out what the maintenance fees were but I said what the hell and if you are worried about that stuff then you shouldn't buy the car. I can definitely afford it but the frugale version of myself tried to win out, but the devil on my shoulder eventually go the best of me. It is amazing, like I said it truly was love at first sight and I have no regrets. Post your story of when you bought your first AMG or just BM.

I get a discount on parts and labor so I think I will be ok. I am doing a full detail today (finally some good weather). I'll snap some photo's and post! And Viren, the first time my girlfriend rode in the car, she said the same exact thing. OH MY GOD! Haha now she wants an AMG! Thanks for the congrats, so happy with the purchase!

Not to put a damper on your purchase, however you are aware of the engine problems (valve train, cam shaft adjusters, head bolts) with this car and the class action lawsuit ? Priority-purchase an aftermarket warranty ASAP

In any event, congrats on your new ride.

No i didn't know about the class action lawsuit but I lucked out and was able to squeak in a CPO warranty due to the in service date and then I purchased an additional 48 month 48,000 mile warranty. I thought it a wise investment. Plus I have the dealership service department at my dispossal I am not too too worried. And if worst comes to worst I have to put some money back into it. This vehicle I plan on driving till the wheels fall off, not looking for a short term purchase. I had the cash and was in the market. I got a crazy deal on it as well even after the warranty and wheel and tire protection. Thanks for the info though, could you attach a link to this thread.

The above is class action lawsuit would only work for people in US

Also, get a ECU tune and you would instantaneously see a difference in power or get it once you are used to your car and after the tune you will fall in love with the car all over again. lol

Warranty extension was a great move and absolutely necessary with these cars.

Law suit thread : https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...8-defects.html

Read this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/4641363-post61.html

And, on the C63 side : https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-concerns.html

@viren, that's for E55

Hey L.I. WHAT A BUZZ KILL! lol Where are you in LI?

Anyway, it is important to know that on those cars. Does anyone know when the motors were good in the 63's because I will looking to get a 2010 with in the next year or two. Is the 2009, 2010 engine the same nightmare? I know the 2012 is a rocketship but price will be high on those for quite some time still and most of all those motors are new and who knows what problems they may have!

Buy an 09 and you will be fine. I am waiting for the 10's to come down a bit more and then I will search one of those out. If I were smart, I would keep this inexpensive e55 I have and be done for a few years...I didn't say I was smart though! Time will tell, we'll see.

OH...and the fuel tank is an e55 issue..not e63.

Dix Hills..

'09/'10 have same M156 problematic motor. Discussed may times in the forum.
I was looking for an '09 before all this engine stuff surfaced. Oh, and let's not forget the problems with the 7 spd tranny.

Correct however there are a number of complaints about the E63's gas tank on NHTSA's website

I am in Huntington too, Huntington Bay. After all these issues with other cars mentioned here I think I will have this E55 for a little longer then I thought! lol The color is starting to grow on me and I am going to fix all the minor issues inexpensively so what the heck...I used to be more of a NA guy but the supercharged motors have just so much torque.

Congrats on your first AMG. I don't use mine as a DD, so I enjoy driving it everytime I get in it. Your fortunate working right at a MB dealership.
Where are you located?

My fuel tank stuff was covered no questions asked under warranty. Same with the SDS light on the dash, a broken wire in the column. Car had been out of warranty on both items.

So you're saying your fuel leak related problems were covered under warranty even though you don't have an extended warranty covering it?

Congrads on ur purchase and ur warrantied so u shouldnt have to worry about much and if u didn't I would tell u to get an aftermarket one. This is the reason I dunno if I should purchase a E63 or E55. I want a newer car but the E63 head bolt issue has me scared as hell, but I do like the amount of mods available for the E55.
