M157 turbo upgrades...

Have finally arrived!

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/1130

And the numbers are crazy:

Modified Performance (With Performance Package):
833 HP @ 5500 RPM; 980 LB-FT @ 3800 RPM
Price: $11,850
Might have to skip out on that CLK63BS I wanted and get an E63TT!

I cant tell if its brand new turbos or a pair of ball bearing inserts and milling the cold and hot side.
Its my opinion that the wording is creatively written to make it appear you are getting two brand new garrett turbos but you are really getting a BB insert with the housings machined to accept them.

Either way, these are some pretty impressive gains! Definitely making me reconsider my choice of a CLK63 BS!

700hp to the wheels is pretty sweet, but almost 12K. Justin you should slap a Weistec on the BS and some LTH, might not be as fast but at that point who cares.

I don't understand why they don't give whp numbers. I've never heard of people dynoing there car for a bhp reading until I landed on these forums. do they do that so it sound like you got bigger *****? "I have 700whp" guess just don't sound as good as "I have 838bhp"

Uhhh, Weistec has had this And the price is considerably less with 730whp rating.

Weistec turbo upgrade

Or AMS has this they are working with 787whp with just turbos everything else stock (no exhaust, downpipes, etc).

At least the weistec tells you exactly what you're getting
which is a billet wheel insert in the stock garrett units. That makes sense

I'm sorry but 11k for two billet wheels is expensive

I paid $600 to upgrade to a billet wheel in my Greddy t78

A complete ball bearing CHRA with billet wheels costs $1200+ each. They only use stock housings which makes sense ( no real point in changing them unless you want HUGE power ) and they are new and modified which adds even more to the cost ( likely a good $1000+ each side since they are machined oem parts ). Plus any adapters needed to make the CHRA work with the housings and oil lines and what not ( another $500+ for quality parts ). I'm not defending their $12K price tag, renntech has always been ridiculous in their prices but think about this, Weistec is selling their turbos for $8.5K and they ONLY swap out the compressor wheel and that's it, I bet weistec makes just as much money of their setup as renntech does if you think about it. I bet Renntech's setup flows more in the end.

Hmmm, also very interesting....

I have been bitten once again by the "go-fast" bug.... I got to spend some time piloting a quad turbo beast, and lets just say I miss the feeling of "thrust"....

Looks like the Renntech is putting out around 725 RWHP.

I've heard the good and bad of every tuner that sells their wares on here but, to my knowledge, I've never heard a bad thing about Renntech. I had an issue with an ECU/TCU tune many years ago. They overnighted a new TCU to me to replace the one that had a bent prong. It was probably my fault but they did not even question it and sent a new one with no questions asked. It's worth spending a bit more money for a company that will be there if something goes wrong.

In the words of Senator Clay Davis, "Sheeeeeeeit." That power + the new AWD E63 = Launch Ness Monster.

For me the logical step from an E55 is to a E63 AWD. Come on depreciation. The E63 conversion will hold me over till they depreciate.

I know everyone is excited for AWD, but I'd rather have nice drag radials on a RWD setup any day.

Renntech is a little pricier, but the overall experience and support you get is quite good. I don't think AMS has released pricing for their kit.

The RWD bi-turbo E63's need to hurry up and depreciate faster!!
