You're welcome! Most people aren't going to build an engine, but I've got some neat stuff for the rest on deck that will be useful to everybody.

Dude, the anticipation is killing me. So many guys are building nasty cars and it looks like they'll all be done around the same time.

Admins better make sure the system doesn't crash/overload!

Youre right, there's a few coming together in the near future. I hope the few guys who are writing the tune files for these things are warming up on the cognitive treadmill !

He's insane--in a great way! Nice stuff.
With all of the mods/increases with your build, what do you expect the net result to be? (other than being stronger).

Not this engine, maybe the next one This one should be plenty strong and fun to drive, and I set the valvetrain up to extend the RPM range a little so the peak power will be made at a speed where the tires can communicate with the pavement properly!

Quote: Ah I see. I just looked at the donor engine I used for the MID block build and see the timing chain idler coating. That engine had 1/3 the miles the one from the car does.

Don't say that the wear on the cover though is normal. We could say " it's a design flaw that ails most M113 engines" but in no IC engine on earth is it acceptable for a steel chain to beat the aluminum cover while the engine idles, spewing metal shavings into the oil. I understand hat the metal grinding is minimal and the filter element will remove most of it from oil circulation but that's a problem that needs some aftermarket love.

If for no other reason just to cure that embarrassing clacking sound. My neighbor has an 06SL500 w 45k on it and his sounds the same way.

Great build btw!

Running yet?

Be home in one month and would LOVE to drive to Orlando for a ride to see what 600whp (or maybe a hair more?) E55 feels like to see if I want one or not (worth the money).

Nope, still wrapped up and ready to go on the engine stand alongside the E55 in the garage. I got sidetracked with work and other misc. things but I'll snap it in one of these days here.

Weistec supposedly had the tune file almost done for me months ago but I never got anything, and they ignored follow up request. Its 7:30 PM now... I could probably have it in the car and running by midnight if I was motivated but I still couldnt drive it with the stock tune so Im sure that's a big ingredient of my apathy. I have 0 faith in them and would not recommend you buy their blower. It sucks to feel that way because I think they make some nice parts and have at least 1 person on staff that really knows their stuff, I get the feeling they're way understaffed.

Quote: I'm amazed to see a company with such a radical mod with few or no test mules or logged miles. Seems like the end users are the test mules. There's also a weistec C63 in the C63 forums with a blown cylinder. It's pay to play for sure.

Quote: So I guess you just assumed that, typed it out and hit the send button without any kind of factual basis?

Nope, having crappy customer support still doesn't prove they're blowing up engines. However I think we have enough proof they are pretty good at pissing off their customers.

I was thinking more along the lines of TT if Jerry gets a tune nailed out without to much trouble on Paul's car. I haven't been to impressed with Weistec after it seems nearly every person who bought one has had a problem with them with one thing or another, multiple ecu revisions or changing parts on their cars, now you not being able to get a tune, etc. and still don't seem to be that great overall (repeatable power from looking at the 1/4 mile Gadget stuff) when they are running due to the still apparent heat issue.

Thought there might be some hope finally with Speedriven but they seem to have disappeared again, so the only thing that seems to be built quick and look good is the TT kit. Now we wait to see if it can be tuned easy enough without a host of issues.

A lot of things describing their behavior didn't really add up, until I found out there's only a few people working there, and they're all kids in their 20s, including the owners. Then it makes sense that they're overloaded and just don't have the experience to deal with this kind of stress. I'm only a few years past that myself but have been in their shoes and it's a ***** sometimes! So I don't take anything personally and don't get too worked up over anything like this otherwise it ceases to be fun.

So I'll get a hair up my *** one of these days and drop this built engine in, and bring somebody out for a FL vacation and tune the thing but I've also got a different AMG car in mind to put this setup in. I'll know by the end of the week which way that wind is blowing but in the meantime try and get the rest of the engine build part of this thread updated.

The TT stuff does look promising, I can't say I won't join that party if this guy Jerry has the magic touch to bring it to life. A good friend of mine has a CTSV with a 427 in it that I'd love to run down , although I probably should have just got one of those to start with!

Weistec is just ticking people off left and right! Damn...

Where are they located exactly? Maybe someone should drop by the shop and ask why they're not helping/responding to people who have bought their product(s).
