after installing the tune on my E63 i got to drive it around today. Car definitely feels better. Quicker more crisp shifts and definitely feels faster, one thing I noticed is when getting to right around 2800 RPM the car feels as if turbos kick in. Anyone experience that with their tuned 63?

I test drove a new E63 and it gave me the feeling above 100mph that turbos were kicking in too.
I was probably just really drunk though.

Dude, you should have had that feeling from any speed because the turbos were kicking in!

To the OP, hard to quite understand what you are explaining on your non turbo E63, but assume the car just wasn't going flat anymore and actually pulling better in the upper rpms due to a better aif/fuel ratio and timing to make more power in those spots.

thats definitely what it feels like. I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same after their tune.

If you're referring to me the answer is yes. My first car was a 300zx turbo in 1985. After I've owned probably over 30 cars which included an F355, Lotus Esprit Turno, Porsche C2 coupe and a long list of AMG's and plenty M powered cars. So I am quite familiar with turbo cars.

He's not too far off with this. The e63 controls peak power per variable cam timing on both the intake and exhaust side, which can give the feel of a top end "boost" when tuned.

It's the same mistake kids with VTEC hondas make... feels "like a turbo". So, all turbo experience aside, you're likely feeling the same thing VTEC owners are feeling, which is advanced cam timing from the tune.

when i had the V3 tune from EC on my C63. I had this feeling too. Talked to EC about it, and they said it goes away after it adapts some, and it did. Car felt incredible after a few miles of spirited driving.

thnx - loved the GL except at 18K miles needed to replace the rear brakes and at 20K miles the tires were done - and the BT sucked - luckily it was only a 24 month lease and we found someone to take it off our hands 6 months early - so it went away last week - had to make room to the wagon - overall the quality is great - but for a $72K truck still blew me away that leather was not standard

next time around I'm getting a Bluetec ML or GL -
