cylinder#6 on the m156 (e63)

Which one is cylinder number 6 or coil f on the e63 (m156) engine. I am getting misfires on #6 and I am replacing the coil. Thx

This place is a joke.
For left hand drive cars, 1-4 on the passenger side, 1 towards the front of the car, 5-8 drivers side, 5 towards the front. Faulty coils are rare on these engines.

I hate to say it but it could be a leaking valve seat or cracked valve spring. I've seen both of those things happen with a 156. Hopefully not though. I have never seen a coil fail on a 156. Swap it with another cyl first to see if the misfire moves. If the miss doesn't change cylinders, perform a leak down test.

Op, it would be in your best interest to go with what these gentlemen have suggested.

Wouldnt the car throw a specific code if it was the coil?

c240classic- Not sure what the mileage on the car but being an 07 by chance does the car have the original spark plugs in it. Pull all plugs on the drivers side of the engine and compare them to each other, using plug 6 as a benchmark, check the gaps, if out more than 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, replace all plugs with NGK Iridiums. As others have stated to check for bad coil, exchange coil 6 for coil 5, reset CEL and see if the fault changes to 5. Coils will fail usually when hot, intermittently cold starts are not affected unless total failure of the coil. Sparkplug.com usually has plugs in stock if you cannot source them elsewhere. As also stated cracked valve spring or seat damage is near impossible unless the valet at the restaurant has found a way to over rev a 63.

That's true, the only way parts fail is from abuse

I had intermittent misfires on #4 on my E63 awhile back. Replaced the coil. Misfires gone. The motor on my car has had all cam adjusters replaced under CPO, if that matters.
