New Front Brakes done @ Dealer

Had my front brakes (pads+rotors) replaced at dealer.

MUCH more stopping power, but I notice when braking from 60mph+ I get a shake front the front almost as if rotors are warped. Normal? Do I need to brake them in?

I had a balancing done (road force balance) at the same time.

Definitely drive easy, but that does not sound normal.

I was kind of thinking it didn't seem normal...not sure if I should mention it to them or not.

I would take it back for sure. I changed my pads and rotors myself and never experienced this.

You need to properly break in the rotors and pads. Hard braking will **** your **** up and good luck getting the parts warrantied when they are a solid purple color from over heating..

BTW how much did this cost? I just got a quote on the pads and they have each front rotor for $138 (cheapest I have seen anywhere).

Since dealer did them, ask the tech to take out and you ride along to show the shaking/pulsating. Should bed the brakes in correctly.

just take the car back. why even waste time asking on here, call ur service adviser. But you really shouldn't be doing any hard breaking until the pads AND rotors are beaded in properly.

The vibration is not normal, but proper bedding is needed, and that does require a lot of HARD braking. After bedding, you don't have to worry about taking it easy at all. Brake all you want. Just don't do a hard braking session then come to a complete stop with the pedal down, after a series of hard braking, make sure you allow a short time for the brake to cool down before a complete stop.

If they are factory pads and rotors (and I'm guessing they are, being that they were replaced at the dealer), Mercedes-Benz specifies not to perform and special bedding process when the pads and rotors are replaced. Normal stop and go driving is all that is required.

jesus, this thread is painful to read. Its like only 2 people know how to bed brakes.

rotors may be warped, hub flange may be warped or have corrosion/burrs, etc that keeps the rotor from sitting flush.

go back to the shop.

If guys would just drive the car in a semi normal way there would be no need to "bed" the brakes. Easy braking over a week or so and the brakes will last a long time. By easy it is not stated to go from 60 miles per hour to zero just to test the new brakes, get real. Every new car sold does not come with brake bedding instructions. Just drive it easy for a while and the brakes will work properly.

Take it back to the dealer and go with the tech on a test drive to diagnose your issues.

Yeah I'm taking it back to them so they can look at it, definitely not right. I don't get how the new rotors could be warped in a week of driving, lol.
