ipod connection
Looking for some help here. My 08 e63 has the ipod hook up. When I want to use I have to hit AUX on the COMAND unit. So it doesn't show me the name of the song or albums, nothing. But in the info cluster by the steering wheel I can see the name of the song. What gives?
Also, for some reason it won't Charge my ipod while it's plugged in??
You help is appreciated

This is what I also have. You can change through tracks, songs, etc.. using the the arrows or the square ( I don't remember) but you can do it.
Recently, I don't have sound coming out of the ipod or iphone when plugged into the cable. Maybe I have a cable lose from the command system.
If anyone can help with instruct me to what to check I would appreciate it so much ..

For charging, you need to get a charging adapter to convert the 12v lead to 5v (I used the Scosche passPORT to charge my iPhone4). Since then, I added a bluetooth receiver to the iPod integration cable so I can connect my iPhone wirelessly.

IIRC, NTG2.5 did not start until 2009 W211s, so I presume you still have the NTG1 COMAND. For NTG1, the AUX input is simply that, just an input for an audio source (i.e., 3.5mm stereo jack). When you add the iPod integration kit, the module separates the audio from your dock connector to the AUX input of the COMAND and the iPod signal controls to communicate through the IC. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain there is no way we can get the artist/song title info to display on the COMAND using AUX.

Here is another question, if I find a 2009 e350 - 550 that's being parted out, can I replace my comand unit with it without and modification will it slip right in?
What are the pro and cons of that? Typically what wud u say they are worth and what is the COMAND unit I have worth. the navigation dvd was updated to 2013 if that means anything ?
Just pondering since I really want to see the title, albums, etc on the screen and I really want to get a backup camera since I'm used to having that in all my cars. I was told by my local best buy backup cam isn't a possibility with my unit...
Btw how is sound quality over bluetooth?

Anyone?
Will a 2009 e class comand unit slip right into the 2008? Any issues with connections?
Thanks!

Do you have an iPhone? Is your bluetooth receiver connected to an iPod integration kit? Or, 3.5mm audio jack?
This is the one I use:

Search on eBay for a new unit.

The bluetooth receiver needs to support Airplay and A2DP music streaming protocol.

Also remember, if you're streaming music (which I do), then SQ won't be the best. Also be aware of what bitrate your mp3s are encoded in if you store them on your iPhone.
It's so convenient not having to plug-in your iPhone to listen to music. Now, you only need a plug for charging.
