Loose Windshield... am I the first?
I didn't find anything here or elsewhere...
I had what I thought was typical Pano rattle that seemed to be getting worse in the upper right hand corner of roof. Tonight, as I am driving, I banged on the window, and its LOOSE. The top drivers side portion is no longer adhered to whatever it is supposed to be adhered to. I can push it out a full 1/2" I have not pulled off the trim (I have pano with Solar panels front and back) so I don't want to bend trim or make it worse.
If it was a hard top (junker) I would pull the trim, squirt in some windshield adhesive and call it day. I would rather fix this right:
Would a general windshield repair company be safe, dealer or diy?
I'm guessing dealer......

DIY isn't bad - I replaced the windscreen on my 55 when I had it.
With that said, the hardest part is going to be pulling the glass without shattering it. IMO, since you prolly want to reuse your glass, might be worth it to have a glass company come out and replace it.

He is referring to the glass for the panoramic roof. This is the first I've ever heard of this on a pano roof... Doesn't mean it's never happened before. Very interesting though. Hope to hear if you are able to do a fix or have to replace it

Get it done professionally. No question. Windshields are a serious structural part of the chassis and can effect things like airbag deployment timing and crashworthiness. And you can't just use any old type of adhesive. Plus once you pull the glass you may need a new "gel pack" for the rain sensor. Some cars have that, I'm not sure if ours do though.
