i changed my oil and sensor giving weird readings.
So changed my oil and ik on these cars there is 2 oil drain plugs but the main drain plug was ALMOST impossible to remove. It broke 3 of my 13MM bits so I used a ranch and used my feet and a wall as support. Finally after that was being removed I saw the second drain plug and I was soo tired I was like nvm. So I did the regular procedure. IT SEEMS I DRAINED exactly 8 quarts of oil. Ik there is 1 quart of dirty oil left in there. BUT BEFORE I ADDED OIL CAR MEASURED AND SAID add 2 quarts to reach max level. Wtf i just drained 8 quarts how can you tell me i need to add 2 quarts can my oil sensor be wrong? I than ignored it and added the exact amount of the oil that was drained after that car says ENGINE OIL REDUCE OIL LEVEL. Wtf

I wish I could help here, but the last change I did, I added 8 quarts to start, then cycled and checked the level and it said I was at like 6.5 quarts. I added a 1/2 quart and it said I was at 7. I refused to believe the sensor. I put 9.5 quarts in and just trusted in the fact that that's what the car calls for. Screw the sensor.

On a dipstick if you measure the oil on the dipstick full to the top is 169 mm and I think the low Mark is 135 mm ..... Drain oil, let the car sit for really long time do both plugs and also change out the sensor and for the refill procedure only use dipstick....it wound up being close to 10 quarts what to dipstick measured the 169 mm..... I'll see if I can find a diagram that shows the 135 is the low and the 169 is the high just to prove it... if it helps

I have the dipstick too, I don't trust that bs sensor, it's only good for when you have a leak and it lets you know you're low on oil, that's the only thing I use it for.

COME ON MAN!!! REALLY IK YOU CARE FOR YOUR E55 JUST AS ME AND EVERYONE ELSE. Investing 158 dollars for a dipstick isn't nothing compared to how bad our engines can get ruined with wrong oil level

This means that the second drain plug has oem loctite and was never been taken out since the car was new. Same thing on my car when I bought it 2 years ago, but I used a half inch breaker bar. Those morons at the dealer have no idea this car has 2 drain plugs, my car was serviced at the dealer since new until I bought it and they only took out the 1 drain plug.

Damn your right that's F***ed up. These morons I knew it it was like IMPOSSIBLE to remove that plug. I only removed the main one I didn't have the strength to remove the second one.

I have a CLS55, our cars have the same drive train and chassis. I did the oil change on it two days ago and I can't stress the importance of draining from both plugs. I drained from the main rear plug first and got most of the old oil out. After, I went to the second drain plug next to the sway bar (facing the driver's front wheel), and I loosened it expecting not much to come out. I was very surprised at how much extra old oil showed up. You will likely be fine, because you have more new oil in it than old. But please make sure you drain from both plugs next time. I know it will take longer but it is the proper way to do it on our cars.

I think you will be fine. You have more new oil than old running in the engine. If you want the added piece of mind, go ahead and just drain the oil again and start over. You can find 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 0w-40 at Walmart for $25 each.

To Mercedes Benz's credit, or should I say to their embarrassment, they agreed to do a complete oil change at no charge when we return to Germany in about 6 months. At the time of the oil change the oil only had about 3500 miles of use, so it's not a problem at all. Oh, and yes I change the oil once a year before the car goes back into storage.

Hey hey, no need to shout. Of course it's important to know your oil level, but 153.00 FOR A DIPSTICK is outlandish. I was simply saying the price was insanse, especially when you can get one for A QUARTER of that price.

Bro dont worry I'm the one who posted this thread. I only changed my oil with that one main drain plug it was SOO HARD to remove I struggled bad. I said hell with removing the second plug. It was cold in my garage I was exhausted. It's been two days and my neck still hurts like crazy. It's sore. Now for not changing the second plug we should change our oil in 5000 Miles instead if the 10000 mile

Really no way the second is easy bro I thought they both were tight. You know what I did I used a small 3/8 x 1/2 wrench, I set it on the drain plug and I used my foot to push the wrench down and my hands were on the garage wall (I'm 6'2) perfect reach for support and used all my strength. Crazy thing is I still needed to use my foot even though the drain plug was half way off. Damn freakin sore neck as for my socket I broke two 13MM bits pain in the a**

Wow Defiantly will do only concern is that if i don't tighten screw hard enough that it might leak. Today my warning sign showed up OIL LEVEL REDUCE OIL. I honestly don't think I have too much oil. Damn ik something is wrong with my oil sensor since my oil sensor told me to add 2 quarts of oil to reach Max level after I drain the oil from the main plug. Ughhh frustrations
