YOWZA! What a car
Just brought our beast home. Big delay getting the car ready so we had to kill hours at a local mall. So we first laid eyes on the car in the lights in front of the dealership. Pretty awesome seeing it that way the first time. They put the Dunlops on, which I thought had a pretty serious looking tread design. Our salesman said to the service guy, do snow tires make a big difference with this car? He smiled and said, THESE will.
The ride home was fantastic. I was never comfortable in the C32, but after a while I felt as one with this car. Very comfortable. My wife was following me and we were talking on the cell phones. Coming up the New York state thruway I told her that this car is on a whole other level than the C32, acceleration wise. Excellent sound system and I had Avril cranked way up. Then we went out to dinner and she got to drive it. For T-bone and any others getting theirs soon, hope the time goes quickly till you get to experience the car. We felt that seeing an E55 and test driving one was nothing at all like seeing OUR car and driving it. It's a lot of money, but I kept thinking on the way home that we made the right choice.

CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!
Mine arrived in Baltimore today and should have it by next week. Did your lighting package come with the active curve illumination system? I know the 2004 E brochure states that but I remeber some fellow board members who have early 2004 models did not have them.
Thanks

Thanks, guys. I don't know if I got that lighting system. I'll have to check on that. The Dunlops are the M2's, stock size. And just in time. First significant snow scheduled for our area tonight and tomorrow. But my wife has a Jeep and can work from home if need be, so I won't have to drive it in real bad snow. But it's nice to have good tires because you don't want to be biting your nails driving a car like this around.

My E55 came home yesterday as well! I am so excited except for the fact that it was sleeting and raining all the way home. So far the car is everything that I thought it would be. Once things dry out and I hit 1000 miles, I'll let you know what I think. All options were on the car as ordered and everthing works perfectly. I don't even mind the brakes everyone is *****ing about. All you have to do to make them not lurch coming to a stop is to let up a little before the actual complete stop. Damn, I thought it was a big issue with the brakes and it turns out to be a non issue. Now, its time to make a few changes and mods and then I will be really happy. YESSSSS!

04E55, I've seen nothing in my literature that indicates I have that lighting system. Speaking of lights, my low beams are way out of line. Can't wait to take it into our local dealership, not where I bought the car, where they know me as about the only C32 owner who comes in. Up our way it's pretty much C class and a zillion E320's.

Congrats, Stephen. Hey, how's it look with that panorama roof? Must give the car a whole different look. Man, I picked mine up just in time. We're buried in snow. I'll be shoveling and snow blowing today to be able to ride it to work tomorrow.

Yeah, same here with the snow since I picked up the car at a dealer in Washington D.C. on Thursday. They weren't quite buried in snow on Friday but close enough. I love the panorama roof and wouldn't have known to purchase that option if I hadn't seen an E55 with pano on the lot at my local dealer. To me, that option makes the car have more of a wow factor and the solar panels should help when I drive the car when its hot outside and I park it. So far, no squeeks or creeks coming from that area as some SL drivers have noted. I have 203 miles on the car now and need to keep driving it to get over the 1000 break in period. The suspense to keep my foot from dropping further onto the accelerator pedal is killing me. Once or twice I pushed it briefly just to see how things were working.....works great...

I've gotten into mine a little bit here and there, but nothing all out. And as recommended, varying the speed and rpm. Pretty much like I did with the C32. Options are tough on a car this expensive. Basically, we went for the Keyless Go over the Panorama. Only regret I have so far is not getting the automatic trunk option. Not that much money for such a neat feature. After the mediocre setup in the C32, my wife and I are really loving the Harmon Kardon.

Edward, glad you like the HK stereo. Did you have the Bose in the C32 like I have? If so, I'm happy to hear the HK is that much better as the Bose is a real disappointment. I'm ordering HK in my E55 as well as Active Lights, Parktronic, Linguatronic, blinds, dynamic seats, etc.
Any other comments for another C32 driver upgrading about the different feel of the cars?

The right side is higher and long and I can not see where the beam ends. I think they are aligned different now on the left so not to blind oncoming traffic. Good Luck!

Kev, I have the exact same situation you describe. I'll let you guys know how it turns out after I have them look at it. mhh, nice setup you're ordering. The HK is standard though. I think you're going to be very pleasantly surprised with this car after the C32. The sound system for one thing is so much better it will blow you away. I'm hearing songs like it's the first time. Oh, and it's great to have an exhaust "I" can hear with the windows up. This baby definitely has a more serious note to it.

Thanks Eddy. Here in Australia the bi-xenons are standard, but the HK Logic 7 is extra. My order is for an August build 2005, so I have some time to wait. I'm hoping by waiting that there may be some updates as MB contemplates the arrival of the M5.
