Took my e55 to Jackie cooper mercedes in Tulsa for an oil change, first time I've done this. My wife noticed they had a tv that shows your cars being worked on I thought that was awesome.
Well while watching my car get it's *oil* changed 6 techs standing around my car looking at the wheels and brakes well 30mins later my cars done 4 guys hop in my car 15 mins go by car still hasn't came around so I decided to walk out side and what do ya know my car comes hauling *** off the free way ( right next to the dealer ship) and kept going didn't even turn in. Showed up 10 minutes later I was absolutely livid. Service manager didn't do anything accept say my oil change was free (I supplied my own oil)....... He denied them all
Hopping in my car for a "joy ride" when I saw all of them drive by me needles to say. Worst dealer ship ever
End rant....

Wow Sorry to hear that.

Definitely I would report that with Mercedes Benz directly.

I have a very trusted dealership from where I picked up my personaly W211 E350 from and I trust them with my car however this has me thinking.

Camera phone should of came out to record those asshats joyriding your car. That's a HUGE liability for the dealership. If they were to crash your car, get a ticket ect it would all be footed by them or their insurance. I would call and talk to corporate and give them the service managers name. I guarantee you something will happen.

I know cars are taken for a +-2mile test drive after service but your story sounds a little different.

Call MBUSA at your earliest to keep these people honest.

You have plenty to rant about, it is called theft or better grand theft auto, the police should have been called and those 'Techs" should have been charged. As for Mercsdude if my car is driven without prior authorization then the call would be made, test pilot drives are BS, it is my car which I pay insurance on, any test drives after service will be by me in the drivers seat, just because you guys can turn wrenches does not give you the right to take customers cars and sooner or later it will bite you, big time.

Not saying what they did is ok but it is far from theft or grand theft at that. You dropped the car off for service thus handing your keys over with permission as well to include a documented RO granting permission to perform service and drive the car as needed. That being said just an oil change does NOT negate a 7 mile "test drive". The techs need to be fired and it is not the service managers fault for the actions of the tech. What he did after being notified is most definitely a firing offense. Denying what a customer clearly seen on camera and the service road is disheartening. I would have spoke to his boss ASAP as to immediately check the footage before it could be altered. It's hard to complain about your crappy steak after you left with it and came back later to say it sucked. Just my opinion.

And the ticket a tech may or may not receive is his ticket to pay as he was the driver.

Definitely not grand theft or theft at all....like Heb said, you willingly gave them your keys so no theft involved.

Why do they need to test drive the car AT ALL for a simple oil change? Let a lone packed full with 4 guys... You should of not left without this being resolved. Ask to talk to the GM of the dealership and called MBUSA while in the building. NEVER leave unless you are satisfied with the services rendered or it makes it hard to validate your story.

True, but he would have to explain to the officer why he was driving a customer car outside of the traffic laws, with 4 guys in the car... Probably would prompt the cop to call the dealer to get to the bottom of it.

Wow, I got upset reading this! I would have been grabbing the service manage when i saw FOUR people getting in to my car and taking off. No ****ing way you need that many people for some kind of test drive.

Dealer is going to DENY DENY DENY. without video footage (probably erased) you dont have any evidence. Driving a couple miles to make sure car is running properly after oil change is acceptable, not 7. This happened to me a few years ago where the 2 miles driven was showing on the tripometer as 5.0 mpg, when it should read at minimum 12 mpg. Complained and nothing happened from it.

If the service manager is in charge of these tool bag techs, he should notice that 4 of them "disappeared" with a customers car. I'd be in jail rite now if that happened to me.

There is little reason to " test drive " a customer car after service, especially oil change. to clarify, the customer should write on the Work Order, NO TEST DRIVES across the bottom. If this was my car the SA and owner/manager of the dealership would have been standing out in front waiting for the thieves to return, the police would have been called also, let them talk their way out of it.
This is a good example to the guys who "trust" their dealer, LOL
Will repeat again, ask the lube jockey if he has a recognized mechanical certificate to work on cars.

The keys are given to the SA who then takes full responsibility of your car. If he then gives them to Buck Rogers of the interplanetary racers club, then he is still responsible. LOL, Judge Judy

Service Managers have more things to do than just stare at their techs all day. Being involved with another customer for 15 minutes is plenty of time for 4 techs to disappear for a 7 mile joy ride and return unnoticed.
